Hi I'm Amanda

I'm studying history in college, I am wife and mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I am in college and I am majoring in History, with the emphasis in European history. I am married and I became a mother this past February. Our little girl is running all over and she loves to get into everything. I spend a lot of time playing with her. I love to read and I always have a book around. There is also a very craftsy side of me. I don't really scrapbook, but I do love to sew, crochet, knit, and cross stitch. I just think that it is so cool when I get to wear or use the things that I make.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church, but when I was about 15 years old I didn't know if I really believed everything. I had some friends that were bad for me and I became really unhappy as I tried to become more like them. One day my seminary teacher called my mother because she was concerned about me. When my mom told the that I was really shocked that someone I hardly knew would care so much. The next day I didn't skip seminary and I actually paid attention to the lesson. I felt such a strong sense that I had done something right and I was happier than I had been in a long while. I started doing more things to help me feel good. Things like going to church, reading the scriptures and praying. I made new friends that were better for me and my whole life just turned around. I am so thankful for Heavenly Father reaching out to me when I had turned my back on him. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I know that this is the true church. I am so happy when I am doing what I can to follow Jesus Christ and I would never imagine doing anything else.

How I live my faith

I just got called to be one of the pianists at church. It was a little nerve racking to play that first song, but I did well and I totally love it. I also go visiting teaching. It's nice to go and talk to others women and help them out. My daughter loves it too because my companion has a girl around her age, so they play while we visit. A book club just got started in our ward and I am so excited to meet some women I don't know and get to talk about books.
