Hi I'm David Marchant

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Being a member of the church has changed my life for the good.

About Me

I am a scientist obtaining my ScD Doctorate of Science from MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I have worked for several companies as a scientist and a technology leader Director of Research, Program Manager etc. I have a family. I am interested in learning and inventing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an LDS Mormon environment. When I was of age to serve a mission for the church, I had to make some very hard decisions. My financial resources were limited and I had been saving money for years from my various jobs. I had to decide if I would be willing to spend the rest of my money on a mission or use the money to complete my education. I decided that I would read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and pray about what I was reading. My goal was to really know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was really true and if it was then I would go on a mission and I would dedicate my life to the church. I read the book is a few days and had prayed each day before reading to know if it was really true. I was blessed with a testimony that the Book of Mormon was true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was the real church of the Jesus Christ. I knew that both the Book of Mormon and the Church were real and true. This testimony came from Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost and it was strong and convincing. I knew that Heavenly Father answers prayers because of my receiving this testimony. I also knew that I need to go on a mission to share what I knew with as many people as I could because they could also obtain a testimony of the truth. After my mission, I was able to find ways to make enough money to finish my undergraduate work and I obtained a full scholarship for my graduate work at MIT. The church is of major importance to my life. My wife also has a strong testimony and we hope that all of our children will have a strong testimony.

How I live my faith

I continue to study the scriptures and other literature about the church, its doctrine, its history, and about the lives of those who have live the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is in this church. I find that praying is of great comfort. I have found that many times new ideas come to me that I believe are inspired by my Heavenly Father. I try to live what I know is right. I love to think about various aspects of the Church and its teachings. I also enjoy thinking about scientific ideas and concepts. I find in areas of overlap that the truths I learned by scientific study are similar to the truths I learned from studying the Gospel in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints.
