Hi I'm Kyle

I'm a journalist, born in raised in Seattle, who has found a home in the Midwest . I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a journalist, father and husband and convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since graduating college five years ago, my wife and I have criss-crossed the country with the demands of my career as a newspaper writer, finding friends and community wherever we live, whether it be a growing town on the Mexican border or Midwest metropolis. I love indie rock, literature, movies, sports of all kinds and spending time with friends and family. When I can I play guitar, dabble in graphic design and build cardboard race cars for my two-year-old daughter.

Why I am a Mormon

Our Heavenly Father provides each of us with a path back to him. Despite my early struggles, the Lord found me at a time I needed him and gave me the things necessary to change my life. As a teenager without a defined faith I was aimless, impressionable and often found myself among those headed down perilous paths. But I was young enough to witness the happiness that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brought to some of my friends, friends that simply stood out from every other teenager. While at first I hesitated, I wanted to be as happy as those unique friends of mine. There families were so close, they found entertainment in uplifting and righteous living and they seemed to shine with enthusiasm for life. It was everything I didn't know how to find. College approached and I contemplated the changes before me. I knew I wanted that same joy. I read the Book of Mormon, met with missionaries and changed my life forever.

How I live my faith

There seems to be a million ways to serve, no matter what kind of personality you have. I help as a record keeper in my local church, making sure addresses and phone numbers are current. I also help out by keeping financial records, tracking down information, ordering materials and communicating with other church members. But I've done a lot as a member since joining the church. I've helped lead youth programs, been in charge of local missionary efforts and taught early morning scripture study classes for teenagers.
