Hi I'm DeAnn

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a mother of 4 adopted children, married to the same wonderful man for over 20 years. I have a BS in Business Management, worked as a VP of Operations and then decided that I wanted to be a mother! I quit and have stayed home ever since. I love being involved in the community and have served on many non profit organization such as Save the Family, United Families International, PTSA and other community and political organizations.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe with all my heart that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. My ancestors joined the church back in the 1800's and have passed on a legacy to me of faith and sacrifice. While growing up I never doubted what I was taught but there was a time that I had to really find out for myself. I have read the Book of Mormon extensively and I have read many historical accounts of Joseph Smith and the beginnings of this church. I know these events truly happened and that the Book of Mormon is truly from God and I do feel closer to my Savior as I read and follow its message. I love my Savior and the feeling I have when I am following His example. I love learning about him and I have found so much peace and happiness when I serve and try to be as He was and is. I LOVE this church and its emphasis on families, service, and love. It is more than a church to attend, it is the gospel of Jesus Christ and it is true.

How I live my faith

For most of my life I have had the opportuntity to work with the youth of church. I love planning events that help strengthen their indivudal worth and faith. Being a teenager is these days hard and I am so grateful that I can help lead these young men and women to a better life, to stay away from influences that can destroy their life in the long run. We help them set goals, look towards the future, and get past the here and now. Because of my love of the youth I also volunteeer my time in the Jr. High as the PTSA president. I do this because of my faith that youth NEED positive role models. I also love being a member of Relief Soceity. As women we need "girlfriends!" Relief Society is a built in mechanism so that EVERY woman has a friend. I love visiting teaching to get to know other women better. Right now I am the Compassionate Service Leader. I help coordinate help for those sisters who may be struggling, sick or just need a little help. We provide meals, clean houses, babysit and all other types of service to help anyone who we feel needs it. It is so wonderful to have 50+ women willing to help anyone at anytime. I have seen women drop everything they are doing to help make a meal at last minute notice. It is a program that makes each sister feel loved and taken care of.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is His willingness to have suffered for my sins. And He would have done it if I was the only person on earth to have sinned. I think guilt and regret are the worst feelings a person can have in life, and the atonement helps relieve and eliminate those feelings. I don't know HOW he did it, but I do now He did do it. And the Atonment is not just for my sins...it is for my pains, my weaknesses, and my trials. When I turn to him in my moments of despair He is always there and brings me peace and comfort. He doesn't take the trail or pain away but he helps me through it. Show more Show less
