Hi I'm Davin

Born and raised a Mormon, and a first generation convert. Computer fanatic, and avid basketball player. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I graduated High School with many computer certifications. A+ Net+ MCDST, and MCSA. After graduating I immediately went to work full time before serving a full-time mission. I love to play basketball, and to be active. Fan of video games, and avid reader. I was particularly interested in Science Fiction. I like to write and make an attempt at creativity. I play the saxophone, and mess around on the piano and drums.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving family, who were active members in the church. I was raised in the church. I grew up learning about the history of the church, the doctrines of the church, and the duty of the members of the church. This background, however, doesn't exclude me from the responsibility to gain a testimony of the divinity of the Book of Mormon, the divine calling of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the restored church. At a certain point in my life, I started questioning everything. My education/personality taught me to prove things. To experiement. I wasn't going to believe something on the merits of other people. I had to know for myself. The Book of Mormon, exhorts us to Ask God in the Name of Christ, If these things are NOT true. When I imagine the writer Moroni putting these words down. To me it says. I dare you to prove me wrong. It then offers the promise that if we ask with Faith in Christ, sincere heart, and intent to act, that we will receive an answer through the power of the Holy Spirit. 'And I will tell you of the wrestle which i had before God...' Enos 12-3, '...My soul hungered and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer...'. I'm a Mormon, because I asked God, and know that this is where I need to be. I know, because I personally asked God myself about it. Nothing of this earth can convince me contrary that told me from Heaven.

How I live my faith

I attend our services every Sunday. I really love the quite time during the sacrament to ponder and think about life and God. Church is definitely the best place to think if you are trying to improve your life. I also play basketball with a bunch of the members from around the area a few times a week. I am attending institute once a week and I teach and participate in a mission preparation class.

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely! As a missionary we get this question a lot. Each missionary wears a name tag. Elder Walker - The Church of Jesus Christ. We follow Christ. 'We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ...' - 2 Nephi 25.26. We believe that he is the source of eternal life and the remission of our sins. No man gets to the Father except by Him. Some of our doctrine is new, that because we believe in continuing Prophetic leadership. But without Jesus Christ, everything falls apart, nothing else, besides Him, matters. The single most important event in world history, was that of man, born in a manger, who died for us. The Christ. How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The title The Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It doesn't replace the Bible, far from it. It is only 531 pages! Much smaller and doesn't even contain an account of Jesus Christs personal ministry, life and death, in Jerusalem. It is simply another perspective, which adds much insight to Biblical passages, from the Americas where it was written and translated. Its purpose is to testify that Jesus is the Christ, and to exhort us to follow him. It even asks us to hold to the scriptures, specifically the Bible Mormon 7.8 pg. 480. Joseph Smith was guided to the 'golden plates' by God through His servant Moroni. The last prophet to write and then bury, the plates. After obtaining the plates, he was given power from God to translate them into english. Show more Show less
