Hi I'm MaryAnn

I cook dinner. I change diapers. I eat chocolate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to a high school english teacher and together we have 3 small children. You could say that I stay at home with the kids, but technically we don't stay at home much. We go to the park and preschool and grandma's house and my kids love to go to Wal-Mart and thrift stores. I graduated from college with a degree in Psychology after our first daughter was born. I love to learn and apply it in the way I live.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me going to church and I'm grateful for their examples. I gained a feeling of peace and truth about the things I was being taught little by little. I have always been able to feel God's love for me when I kneel and pray to ask for His help. My hope and belief in the things I was taught growing up have deepened into a sure knowledge that they are true. I know that the Book of Mormon is scripture and that it will bring us closer to God. I know that Joseph Smith restored Christ's church to the earth and I know that my family can be together forever. When I'm changing a smelly diaper or throwing up for the 100th time during a pregnancy-- yes, I get that sick!-- I just try to keep it in perspective. It's all worth it because I know that eventually we will all be together in Heaven. And I'm hoping that in Heaven there are no poopy diapers!

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the way I treat my children. I remember how important children were to Christ when he was on the earth. He has commanded us to learn to be humble and patient like them. The more I spend time playing and listening to them, the more I learn from them and learn to feel for them the love of my Savior. At church I am the secretary for the children's organization called primary. I help keep track of the roll and run around making copies of pictures for the kids to color or finding glue sticks and extra scissors. Most of all, I try to make each child feel important and loved. When they come to church it is a chance to come away from the world and get a little glimpse of Heaven. I also visit 5 other women who are members of the church to check on how they are doing and report any needs or news to our leaders. It's a great opportunity to get to know other women in the area who share my belief in the church.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

MaryAnn
Have you ever been so excited about a deal at a store that you can't wait to share it? Whenever a store has a huge sale on clothes or toys all the moms at the park are talking about it. That is the way we feel about church. It is such a good deal! You come into the church with nothing but your faith and desire to follow God's will. You come away with the Holy Spirit, the best feeling in the entire world that cannot be duplicated. It's one size fits all and never has to be returned.  Show more Show less
