Hi I'm Crystal

I am a wife, a soon to be mom, and an Oklahoma girl who loves family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my amazing husband for two years now. We met at college in Utah and recently moved to Wisconsin. I graduated in Early Childhood Education to teach Pre-K through 3rd Grade. I love teaching children and seeing the light in their eyes when they understand a concept being taught. I nannied for a year for 2 beautiful little girls that provided several teaching opportunities for me to use my college education. Now I am anxiously waiting the arrival of our first baby and am most likely spending time with my husband, watching TV, playing with our adorable puppy Kalea, or enjoying being outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised LDS. My parents took me and my siblings to church each Sunday and the gospel was taught in our home. However, it wasn't until I was 12 years old that I started to develop my own testimony. My leader at church encouraged the girls my age to pray and know for ourselves that we are daughters of our Heavenly Father. So, that night I knelt down to say my prayers and I did ask to know if that was true. I remember, almost the second I finished asking, feeling an overwhelming amount of love. I knew, through the Holy Ghost, that I am a daughter of our Heavenly Father, He knows me individually, and that He loves me very much. I also read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if the words and stories I read were true and again the Holy Ghost confirmed the truthfulness of this book. This was the beginning of my growing testimony. I continue to pray and read the scriptures and the Holy Ghost repeatedly bears witness to me that the LDS church contains the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I love this gospel. It brings so much joy into my life and I cannot imagine my life without it. I am who I am today because of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily and is apart of everything I do. I try to begin each morning with a prayer to my Heavenly Father. Then through out the day I strive to be a good example, to be positive, and to be kind to those around me. In the evening, with my husband, we read the scriptures or talks that have been given by our modern day prophets and apostles. Before we go to bed, we end the day with a prayer. Each week I prepare lessons and activities to teach children songs to the children 3-11 years old at church. We sing songs about Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, how to have courage, how to make good choices, as well as some fun wiggles songs. I love how simple the gospel is and that these children, though young, can feel and know that the gospel is true. Being around children can bring the spirit as well as uplifting music, but when they are combined the spirit is even stronger. I'm grateful to be apart of that each week. I have chosen to do these things so that I can have the Spirit with me. And when I have the spirit with me I am able to draw closer to my Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ.
