Hi I'm Amber
I love to travel and enjoy all kinds of outdoor activites. And I'm proud to be a Mormon.
I am a born and raised Mormon whose descendents came across the plains as Mormon Pioneers and helped settle Salt Lake City. I grew up playing all kinds of sports and was always playing with the boys. I was a 3-sport athlete in high school and went on to play college basketball. I graduated from college and now I'm working in healthcare fundraising and loving every minute of my life. When I'm not working, you can usually find me outside enjoying the beauty of Utah. In the summer I love to ride my bike, go fishing, camping, hiking, play golf, and exercise. In the winter, you will find me up in the beautiful Utah Mountains on my skis or snowshoes. I also try to travel as much as I can - I feel like it's the best way to learn more about and understand the world we live in. I love to read and I try to learn something new every day. I love to try new things and take up new hobbies. (Last year I learned how to crochet - that was definitely a stretch for me!) My friends and family mean everything to me and I love to spend time with them. I love to laugh and be happy. I believe life is a gift and we should take advantage of it every day. Life is good!
As I've said above, I've been a Mormon all my life. However, just because I was "born into" the LDS faith doesn't mean I automatically believed. I had to work for my testimony and faith and I am so glad that I did. When I was in college, I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if the book was a true. It was the first time in my life that I had really tried to find out for myself, instead of just trusting what my friends and family told me. I can now say with all sincerity that I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It's another testimony of Jesus Christ. This has been confirmed to me over and over in my life. I cannot and dare not deny it. You can have this same confirmation if you will read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it's true. I dare you! :) Find our missionaries and ask them for a Book of Mormon. Read it. If you ask in faith, I know you will receive the same confirmation I received. And I guarantee that gaining that testimony will make your life exponentially happier and more meaningful!
I live my faith every single day. The gospel of Jesus Christ is in everything we see and do! I believe that learning is a life-long process. It seems the things I stand for and believe in as a Mormon are continually re-affirmed and strengthened through what I learn every day, regardless of subject matter. I am always humbled at this. I marvel at the beauty of the earth that was created for us. It always reminds me that our Heavenly Father loves us and knows every single one of us. I also take the time every day to pray one on one with the Lord and thank him for the blessings I have because we all have so much to be grateful about. I believe having a grateful heart is one of the keys to lifelong happiness. At church, I teach the teenage girls. The organization is called, "Young Women's". It is so inspiring to spend time with them and watch them discover their own faith and testimony of Christ. I love it! One of my favorite things about our church is that no one is paid to work or teach or serve in our church. It's all volunteer and everyone helps out to make each congregation run. Because of this, my testimony grows and I am able to gain new insights by being able to serve in our church in different capacities. Basically, I love living my faith every day. No one is forcing me to do it. It's just that my life is so much better when I put our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first.
