Hi I'm Pamela Stavrou Dove

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an over 70 year old mother of 7 children-6 daughters and 1 son, who has Down Syndrome-and grandmother of 16 grandchildren, living in Maryland, Utah and Hawaii. I am of Albanian heritage. I was a 3rd grade teacher until our first child was born. I coached 5 of our daughters on our high school field hockey team for 11 years as no one else would. Before I was 50, I started working full-time outside the home at our high school as a special education instructional assistant. I retired in June of 2008 after 17 years. I like to read, dance, make baby blankets, go to the beach, and be with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Forty years ago my husband and I became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after the missionaries knocked on our door. My husband had many unresolved questions regarding our purpose in life. When I read the Book of Mormon, I knew it was the word of the Lord. After reading A Marvelous Work and a Wonder by LeGrand Richards, I received a witness of the truthfulness of the gospel message and we were baptized. That decision has made all the difference in our lives.

How I live my faith

My husband and I decided to retire once we reached age 66 so that we could go on a mission with our son. We were very excited to go to the Illinois Nauvoo Mission, where we served at a historic site for our church for one year. The musical productions that we became part of were wonderful experiences for us, but most especially for our son, who loves music and has a talent for the stage. Now that we are back home, we are working at the Washington DC Temple once a week with our son. I also work with my youngest daughter on family genealogy. I am the organist for our Sunday worship service, which I love doing as I love the hymns so much. I try to read the scriptures every day.
