Hi I'm Hyrum Rigtrup

My son thinks I'm superman, my daughter thinks I tease her too much. Our family bleeds Purple & Gold , Go Huskies! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happily married father of two. Life is usually busy with Baseball, Soccer, Dance, bicycle rides, camping, parties, or whatever else is happening. I'm a Construction Project Manager, who works in the Seattle area. I graduated from the University of Washington for both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. We are a proud Husky family, "Go Dawgs!"

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members, so I grew up attending. However, that is not why I am Mormon. At 17 yrs old I decided to figure out what was really true, and did some personal research. It wasn't until I read the Book of Mormon, and began to pray about it to find out if it was true, that I received my own personal conviction that God was real, Jesus Christ was real, and that he had visited people on the American Continent after his ressurection. The spirit strongly bore witness to me and continued to testify to me the truthfulness of other "Mormon" principles. Being an active member has brought a peace and understanding of who I am, and what my purpose is here in my life. This peace has served me as an anchor even during my own life's challenges.

How I live my faith

I am a all-or-nothing type of person. Either I'm in or I'm not. I do not see the point in only being half-committed to anything. Either, this church is true, or it is not.  If it is not true, than I don't need to waste my time. If it is true, and I know that, than I short-sale myself if I do not live according to it's principles. I am grateful that we all are Sons and Daughters of a loving Father in Heaven. That he has provided us a Savior to redeem of us from our sins, because we all need it. And also, that he has provided us the Holy Ghost to personally testify to each of us individually of truths, if we ask. I live so that I can do my best to follow the teachings of Christ, and so that the Spirit can be with me to help me discern between what is right and what is not right.
