Hi I'm Liz

I keep a blog about my Dad's post-stroke traumatic brain injury and my faith in Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family, my religion, and my life! I love being married and I love being a mother to our two children. The best part of our marriage and home is the knowledge that we have of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. We love being Mormons and we love practicing our religion together at home, in our community, and when we attend church.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon and trying daily to live the Gospel brings to me hope, joy, confidence, strength, energy, purpose, freedom, and a spirit of love, peace, and a sound mind. As a young teenager I began to really study my scriptures, sometimes for hours a day! Since then I have been a daily studier and I have never looked back.  Jesus Christ is my Savior and I am thankful for what He did for me. I have been very close to my Dad my whole life. I am the only daughter in a family with five children. My now 56 year-old Dad has gone through so much physical suffering these past few years and has become disabled because of a traumatic brain injury, which he sustained through a massive hemorrhagic stroke. These events have changed the lives of all our family members and I have had the opportunity to observe different reactions and different methods of coping. I have never doubted, but have instead become more and more converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Instead of feeling hopeless, I feel healing. Instead of feeling anger, I feel love. Instead of feeling cheated, I feel blessed. Instead of feeling sad, I feel joy. Jesus Christ is real! His Atonement is real! His resurrection is real! I have been blessed to have my testimony of His love, His Gospel, and His peace expanded. I always want to do what the Lord asks me, and I am thankful for my knowledge of Him. Isn't life great?!

How I live my faith

Since my Dad sustained a traumatic brain injury, I have kept a blog sharing details of his health and condition, but mostly I love using it to share my faith in Jesus Christ and the tender mercies of the Lord to our family in the difficult circumstances with my Dad. His immediate health decline has been hard for each individual, but everything is made better and easier by our faith in the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I love having the opportunity to share my faith and how it is helping me each day.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the Mormon Church is like being adopted into the biggest, warmest, happiest family I can imagine! It is knowing you have many brothers and sisters in God's family who love you, who are concerned for your welfare, who want the best for you, who will pray for you. Being a member of the Mormon Church is having the opportunity to take the Sacrament every week! It means having somewhere to go that you are wanted and welcome. Being a member means having a world wide family with a common goal and purpose. It means having the opportunity to have truths confirmed by the power of the Holy Ghost. Because of that, I can know things for sure. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

I believe the purpose of life is to enjoy it! I believe that is possible by living a moral and faithful life, and by worshiping God the Father and Jesus Christ. The commandments give to me freedom and joy and I am grateful for them! Show more Show less
