Hi I'm Sharon

I grew up in Southern California, I am going back to college to earn my degree in Education, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a divorced mom with two sons ages 18 and 15. I just started back to school to earn my degree in Elementary Education. I am the Alex P. Keaton of my family, I grew up as the only conservative in a family of liberals. At times it made for interesting discussions at the dinner table. I love computer games, reading, and reality television. I am involved in both my son's activities, the High School Band, Boy Scouts, and in the Church. I decided to trade in our urban surroundings in Southern California and moved my family to Alabama. It was the best decision I ever made. I love the rural environment and I have finally seen the stars in the sky that I had always heard about.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that was more spiritual than religious. I always believed in the idea of God but I was never taught any principles, doctrine, or purpose of what we are here for. I visited several different Churches on my own and never really found one that registered with me. Each one would have some aspects that made sense to me, but would also preach concepts that didn't. When we moved from Califonria to Alabama a friend of mind invited us to his Church on Sunday. The moment I walked in the building I knew there was something different here. Listening to the speakers, seeing how people treated us, learning the concepts and doctrine they believed in, every single thing fit. Questions I had for so many years were answered and I knew that I had found my Church. I live my life and raise my sons based on the principles of the Church because I have seen the benefits. It is not always easy, but we are facing a cunning, manipulative, and evil enemy that will stop at nothing to derail us from our purpose here.

How I live my faith

I am the second counselor in our ward's Young Women group for girls ages 12-18. It is the best calling I ever had. Getting to work with the girls has been more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. Most of the girls have grown up in the church and are very well versed in the scriptures. I teach about once a month and my approach to teaching them is to try and show how a book written so long ago still applies to them today. It has strengthened my faith and caused me to be careful to set a positive example for them in the way I live my life.
