Hi I'm Matt

I'm 18 years old. I'm a Private Pilot. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the church, so I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by the gospel my entire life. I've also been fortunate enough to be involved in aviation. I have been flying airplanes my entire life. My dad is a pilot for a major US airline, and his dad was a pilot in World War II, so I guess it runs in the family! I soloed a single engine airplane on my 16th birthday, which is the youngest you are legally allowed to do so, and I received my Private Pilot's License on my 17th birthday, which is also the youngest age you can get it. I'm also instrument rated, meaning I can fly the aircraft only using the instruments in the cockpit, not by referece to the horizon outside. I'm currently working on my Commercial and Airline Transport Licenses just so I'll have the option of flying commercially as a career. I did one semester at Arizona State University majoring in Aviation Management, but changed majors to Business Management. Once thats finished up I'd like to either get my MBA or go to law school to study Real Estate or Commercial Law. For a career I would love to do something with real estate development, management, and acquisition. Its the plan for now but I'm leaving my options open. One thing is for sure- I will always fly! Im also currently a Missionary for this church serving in Washington State, Spanish speaking from March 2012 to March 2014! Once I'm done with my Mission I will come back and finish up school and continue my life from where I left off.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born into the church and I've been a member my entire life. This church offers something that MANY people in this world are actively seeking everyday- happiness. I am happy because this church has taught me how to model my life around the life that Jesus Christ lived- through my actions. Something that brings me the most happiness is serving others, which is a principle this church was founded upon, and actively and strongly teaches today. It is when we put ourselves aside and go help other people that we will feel true happiness. I love going to service projects and helping other people out that are less fortunate then me. It just feels good! we are taught that having charity towards others will ultimately make us more and more humble, which is when we will be able to truly focus our lives on what matters most- family, church, Jesus Christ, choosing the right, the gospel, and helping other people of course!

How I live my faith

I live my faith many ways. On a personal level, I read my scriptures and pray daily. Although no one is perfect, I try to live my life as best as I can, making right choices to better myself which in turn will help me grow more spiritually. And by me making good choices, im setting an example to those around me who will hopefully make good decisions of their own and then they will get to better themselves spiritually.
