Hi I'm Ivan

I'm a college student, a drummer, and a faithful husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just started college and am studying to be a mechanical engineer. I have 5 brothers and one sister. I recently got married to the most beautiful and wonderful girl in the world and we are looking forward to the day when we are blessed with children. I've been playing drums for about five years. I played trumpet in marching and concert band in high school. I also played trumpet in a jazz band for four years. I love music, can't sing well but love to play to the beautiful sound of my wife's voice and guitar. I love any kind of sport with football and basketball at the top. I served a mission for the LDS church speaking Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, where I first heard of the church was in my home. My parents were both members, my dad being raised in the church and my mom's family being taught by missionaries. Although I was raised in the church, my parents made it clear that the ultimate choice was mine. My dad took me aside as I was preparing to be baptized and he sat me down to talk of the importance of the event. He explained to me that to be baptized or not was a personal decision of mine and that because I would be making promises to God I needed to be sure of my commitment to Him. So I decided to ask God if baptism was the right thing for me. I asked if I should wait or if it would really bless me or not to be baptized. As I was praying an overwhelming feeling of peace came over me and I knew that baptism was right. I know that our Heavenly Father answers prayers. We are His children and He loves us very much. I know He sent His son Jesus Christ down to this earth to die for all of us. I love my Savior and I know he loves me. I know families are organizations promoted by God and through a loving family that is dedicated to God, all can find peace and comfort.

How I live my faith

The way I have lived my faith throughout most of my life is probably through example. Not to say that I have been perfect because I haven't but I have tried to live up to the privileges I have been given. Because I know that my Savior lives and that he loves all of us I need to be a good example of a follower of Christ. In the church there are always opportunities to serve and help others. I've worked with the youth in the church and my latest responsibility was to help with the service committee in our congregation. My job was to help plan and carry out activities to help the members of our congregation with their individual needs. We also planned service activities to involve the rest of the members also so that all were able to participate in serving in the church and community.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes, we all have the opportunity to live with our families forever in the presence of God. This is actually the very first doctrine that I understood and immediately loved even as a child. I remember a conversation that I had with my older brother when I was only four years old. We were talking about whether or not being mormon was what God wanted us to do. I told my brother that even if this church was not true i still wanted it to be because I loved my family and wanted to live with them forever and if the mormons believed and taught that we could be together forever as families then I was going to try my very best to come to know that for myself. Now I do know for myself. Because of the power of God each and every family has the wonderful opportunity to be eternally sealed together. My wife and I just got married a month and a half ago and we earnestly look forward to the day when we will have the opportunity to be with all of our family forever. It is so amazing to know that the wonderful wife at my side right now will never have to leave me forever. I will see her again after we pass from this life and we will still be together as husband and wife. Show more Show less
