Hi I'm Lena

My life centers around my love of family, friends and my Savior. I am currently serving in the Oregon Portland Mission.

About Me

I am studying elementary education at Utah Valley University; which is fulfilling my life long dream of being a teacher. I enjoy being around people and serving them. I spend a lot of time at home with my parents, or with friends. Theater, watching movies, and crochets are some of my favorite pass times.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents took me to church every week, and I was baptized when I turned eight. I LOVE this gospel! My parents never forced me to go to church when I was old enough to choose, and very rarely did I not want to go. I chose to go because I enjoyed learning about the gospel principles, and still do. I know that Christ lives and died for me. I know that because of His Atonement I can be with Him again. I know that through the sealing powers of the temple I can see my sister, who passed away, again and be with her and the rest of my family forever. I know that if I live worthily I can marry a great man in the temple and be with him forever. I know the Book of Mormon is a true testament of Jesus Christ. My testimony is very special to me. As a missionary I love to see how the Gospel changes people's lives for the better: they're happier, they're healthier, they're more loving and they feel loved, and the list goes on. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real, and it really will heal us as we use in our lives. I know it's true! Everything good in my life is because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

Serving a mission was a big "leap of faith" for me; I never planned or even really wanted to serve a mission growing up, and yet I did it; and am forever thankful I did. When I got the strongest prompting from the Holy Ghost to serve, I could not deny it. Everyday in the field I grew closer to my Heavenly Father and loved learning more about Him and the gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ. Now that I am home, I strive to keep that same Spirit in my life, and it has honestly been a struggle. There was a time when I felt I had lost my faith, slowly I am regaining it. Daily I pray (constant prayer), read scriptures and remember that the Atonement is there to help me. I don't have to be perfect right now, but with Christ I can be. I remind myself to keep going, to choose faith and try to be like Jesus.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are places where members go to learn more about our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. We make promises (covenants) and in return receive wonderful blessings. The most important of which is the sealing of a husband and wife so that they can be together for eternity and their family is forever. We also act as proxies, in ordinances such as baptism, for those of died without the opportunity to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
