Hi I'm Chuck

I'm a Texan living in Lithuania and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife, Carol, and I have lived in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, most of our lives and all of our married lives. I retired as an engineer for a large aerospace company two years ago. We now live in Vilnius, Lithuania, where we are serving an 18-month mission for the Church. There are wonderful people here and I love the forested areas throughout the city. We have three grown children, a great son-in-law and daughter-in-law, and five very cute grandchildren, one of them born while we have been here in Lithuania. We love the Church and it is very central to our lives and lifestyles. I served a mission for the Church as a young man and learned to love the country of Norway and its people. When in Texas, we are busy with community service, gardening, home maintenance, family history, and enjoy occasional opportunities to travel. A couple of out-of-the-way places we have been privileged to visit include Madagascar and Mongolia, where we met and enjoyed some delightful, humble people. Of course, Lithuania is quite a change of venue, too!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon by birth, but also by choice. I love the stability the teachings and mores of the Church instill in myself and my family and the focus on Jesus Christ. My appreciation for these things increases as I read about the problems people face, many of which are rooted in poor lifestyle choices. I wish everyone could be blessed by an understanding of the standards encouraged and promoted by the Church and its leaders.

How I live my faith

In Texas, I stay busy serving in the Church but also try to incorporate some community service along the way, such as serving in Scouting and some community organizations. As mentioned, those activities have been interrupted while my wife and I serve in Lithuania. I enjoy being a member of the Church.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Chuck
I love the Bible and enjoy using it regularly in personal study and teaching. We encourage everyone to read the Bible and to pray for insight and understanding. Some of my favorite motivational stories are found in the Old Testament and in the Savior's parables. The Gospels in the New Testament are jewels about the Savior's life and ministry. And there is much, much more to teach, inspire, and motivate us as we study the writings of the biblical prophets and apostles. Show more Show less
