Hi I'm Sydney

I am from New Mexico. I'm a Chemical Engineering senior at BYU. I'm going on a mission to Minneapolis. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a senior in chemical engineering at BYU. I love math and science and being only one of a few girls in my classes. I love music; I play the piano, trumpet, and started learning guitar. I also like snowboarding, soccer, and running even though I'm not great (or consistent) at any of them. I am the youngest of two adopted Korean siblings (I'm "white Korean" haha). I love my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are Mormon and so I grew up in the LDS Church. But even though I've been a member since I was baptized at eight years old, I have gained my own testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father and a compassionate Savior, Jesus Christ, who atoned for the sins, sorrows, and pains of each of us. I know He lives and loves each of us. I have read the Book of Mormon several times (just finished it again yesterday) and I have received a witness through the Spirit that it is true. Because of this I know that Joseph Smith restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ upon this earth. I am so grateful that I have the Gospel in my life. It has blessed my life in so many ways: helped me recover from struggles I've had, comforted me in times of sorrow, and blessed me with happiness and joy that I know I can find nowhere else. I know it's true!

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving a mission in Minnesota Minneapolis Mission, Spanish-speaking. I will spend two months in the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT and then leave to Minnesota right before Christmas to freeze. I'm scared and nervous, but I'm excited to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people there.
