Hi I'm Michael

I'm studying Spanish and I teach French. I'm learning Chinese on the side, cause I'm just crazy enough. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student in my second year of college, where I study Spanish and French. I love learning languages! Besides school, I love listening to music and dancing, as well as hanging out with my family. I'm also your typical bookworm, and on any given rainy day you can find me reading a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God hears and answers my prayers. He helps me in every aspect of my life in dance, in school, in singing, in improving my Spanish and French--He knows who I am and what my needs are. I am a Mormon because I have felt the cleansing power of Christ's Atonement in my life and have seen how He changes the lives of others. I am a Mormon because the Restored Gospel has healed the hurt of seeing my family broken apart and of losing loved ones. I am a Mormon because there is a real, spiritual power in reading the Book of Mormon, which helps me come closer to my Savior and to feel His love. The Book of Mormon is what distinguishes the Church from other Christian denominations. That the Book of Mormon has helped me understand better the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that it has helped me feel His love and resist temptation is the greatest proof of its truthfulness as a witness of the Lord, Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because Heavenly Father confirmed to me that this was the right thing to do, and because He continues to answer my questions. I make mistakes, but so does everyone. God gave us His only Begotten Son for this reason, and it is only in following His Gospel that we can have access to the Atonement and be with Him once again, as well as with our families.

How I live my faith

It's really quite simple, the way the Church is run--it's about service. I have volunteered in many capacities--teaching basic Gospel principles to children, helping in the choir, or serving my peers as a youth and now as an adult are just some of the ways I have been blessed to serve in the Church. Being a missionary was one of the most amazing callings I ever received. I was able to teach others the Gospel and help them to come unto Christ and just see the changes that the Atonement made in their lives. I live my faith in the basics. I pray for help with everything, it seems, I study the scriptures, and I renew my promises to God each week by going to church and taking the Sacrament.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Michael
Absolutely! Even though men and women are different, they are equal in God's eyes. Mormon women are strong, spiritual, and smart. Having been raised by just my mom, I can personally attest to this. Her faith and testimony in the restored Gospel made her a pillar of strength in my life, and helped us through some very difficult times. She is an educator and currently getting her Master's degree in Educational Psychology. The Gospel and Church of Jesus Christ have always taught her (and all women) the importance of being educated.
