Hi I'm Cam

I'm a beatboxing music lover, an ultimate frisbee fanatic, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Right now, I am serving as a missionary in Louisiana. Its alot of fun, having so many awesome experiences and meeting so many different people is really cool. The best part is: sharing with them the gospel of Jesus Christ and watching it change their lives. I like to meet new people and try new things. I've at least given a shot to everything I've been able to, and held on to the stuff I've liked. I love outdoor stuff, including hiking, rock climbing, frisbee, slacklining, and swimming. I love doing stuff with friends, taking road trips, and playing video games. I love technology and computers. I love absolutely everything about music. And I mean everything. Playing, listening to and writing it. I like learning new instruments, and can play just about all instruments Ive been able to get my hands on. Before my mission, I went to school for a year and a half majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Its a really cool field, I love designing stuff and making things. I'll probably end up doing something in that field when I graduate. I also worked as an audio engineer (the "sound guy") in both the corporate world and the live music world. I've got to meet and do sound for a lot of cool groups. Also, I was a DJ for weddings and parties. I love the little rush you get when you nail a perfect beatmatch between two songs, and the crowd goes wild. I love putting together a show, and I have considered live concert production as a career as well.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel is legit. Theres really not another way to put it. Theres alot of crazy stuff and bad influences in this world, and without having a firm standing point of the gospel and this church, I dont know where I'd be in my life right now.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full-time 2-year missionary, so I am wearing a shirt and tie every day and sharing this message with as many people as I can on a daily basis. When I'm not a missionary, I strive to be an example to others by the way I act. Christ said "by this shall men know if ye are my disciples; if ye have love one to another." I think showing charity and kindness towards others certainly isnt always easy, but really does show others that you have something great; namely, the gospel. I know that the Lord has established moral standards and guidelines for a reason, and by doing my best to follow them, I have seen that they're here for a reason: to make us happy!

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Often the Bible is confused for something that it isnt. What it is is a collection of writings of the ancient prophets and apostles. It was put together nearly three centuries after the death of Christ, and much after the church he established was lost. The books in the New testament are a fairly random collection of writings and stories of the Apostles. In fact, there are many references to other epistles and books in the New and Old Testaments, many of which we do not posses today. So of course, the Bible contains the word of God, but never was it meant to contain ALL of Gods word and will for us. It doesnt even say the word "Bible" inside the Bible, because it was put together much after the epistles and other books were written. So, what that all means is: the Bible tells us things that were happening with God and his church upon the earth. It was not meant to be a way that we could start a church or mean that we could be saved just by reading it. What it teaches us is that God talks to his children on the earth through prophets. God has done that again today, through the Prohpet Joseph Smith. With his prophetic calling, God gave him a way to show the world that his claim was genuine. It is something called the Book of Mormon. This book as well testifies of Jesus Christ, and of men called of God to be Prophets. You can know for yourself that this is Christs restored church by reading this wonderful record and praying and asking God if it is true. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Grace is so often confused in its definition and role concerning salvation. We learn from the Bible and Book of Mormon alike that we are saved by grace. But that never meant that Christ eliminated our personal responsibility. I like to think of it with the following example: due to the fall of Adam, we are in a "fallen state" from our Father in Heaven. We are in a "pit", figirutavely speaking, of mortality. The only way out of this pit is by the Atonement and grace of Jesus Christ. This has been given to us as a "ladder" out of this pit. So yes, Christ is the only way out. His grace and his Atonement are the only things that can save us. But WE ourselves have to climb this ladder. He will do everything we can't but we have to do everything we can. Show more Show less
