Hi I'm Cody Oakes

I'm a Mormon...AND I LOVE IT!

About Me

I grew up in Burley, ID a small little town in southern ID it's a great little place where everybody either knows everybody or knows somebody who knows everybody I love it here, but probably wont be here forever. I love in-line hockey, snowboarding, wakeboarding, playing card games, going to movies, riding my bicycle, and other things like that. I returned home from a two year mission in Colorado Springs, CO on 2/28/2011 I absolutely LOVED it and now I'm looking forward to continuing my education and working hard.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the mormon church but at some points in my life I had questions about what I really believed and why. I had a few people bring me stuff that gave lots of points why the Mormon belief is not true so I decided I really needed to find out for myself what was right and what was wrong. I also decided the best place to get an answer to which church was God's church would be God himself. As I studied and prayed sincerely I just had a good feeling in my heart that what I believed could be true, was in fact actually true. As I've continued to take questions to my Heavenly Father, study the scriptures, and go to church I've had tons more questions answered and I can honestly say I am really happy and I love life because I know I am following my Father in Heaven and what he wants for me! so...I'm a Mormon and wouldn't change it for the world.

How I live my faith

Well I just returned home from a mission in Colorado Spring, CO. Where for two years I went out every day and talked to people about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I saved up money and my parents helped me so I could be self sufficient for two years and not have to worry about work or about school while I was out sharing with people the things I personally found to be true. It was awesome! By far the best two years of my life and I would love to do it again someday. Now that I'm back in ID I try my hardest to live my faith each and every day by the way I live my life, the way I treat others, and just by the day to day things that I do. Being part of the Church is more the just going to church and being baptized, those are REALLY important but it's also important to live the teachings every day

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Cody Oakes
Surprisingly enough a lot of people don't think Mormons are Christian...I'm not even going to lie that completely boggles my mind! haha the real name of the church is The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints so of course we believe in Jesus Christ. We know he is the only begotten son of our Heavenly Father. We know He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. We know that it is only through Him, not Joseph Smith or Mormon, that we can return to be with our Heavenly Father and our families for eternity! We also know that our Savior Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven appeared to Joseph Smith in the 1800's and chose him to be a prophet, to organize Christ's church on the earth after it had been corrupted when Christ was crucified. We also know as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that Christ continues to lead this church today through living prophets and apostles just as He has done since the beginning of time with Adam. The best part about it is that it's not a secret everyone can know for themselves that's it's true and by doing so come to know their Savior Jesus Christ even better every day.   Show more Show less
