Hi I'm Landon

I grew up in Indiana. I'm living in Idaho and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to listen to music and jam out on my guitar. One of my greatest passions is running. I ran track and cross country in high school. I also ran a couple of half marathons. My goal is to qualify for some of those big name marathons such as the Boston Marathon.

Why I am a Mormon

One of the biggest questions I get asked is why do I believe? What makes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints so much different than all the other churches? One of the greatest differences is The Book of Mormon. I truly believe and have a strong testimony of this book. It is another testament that Jesus is the Christ and that God lives and that He loves us. Both of my parents are converts to the Church and I am fortunate enough to be brought up by loving parents who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Being raised by members of the Church, I still had to find out for myself if it is true and if it is what am I going to do about it. My testimony really started my freshman year in high school. I was enrolled in seminary which is a church program for high school students. Every school morning at 6 A.M. in a members house, we gather to learn more about the scriptures and how to live our lives in accordance to the gospel. Being a teenager, 6 in the morning is pretty early, especially when I went to sleep late due to homework and extracurricular activities. I would have to force myself to wake up at 5 A.M. every morning to attend this. If I was going to do this, I would have to know it is true. One night, I remember after reading my scriptures, I got on my knees to pray to my Heavenly Father. The feeling and impression I got was that it is true and that I am on the right path. That answer I got could only come from the Holy Ghost. At that moment I knew without a doubt that The Book of Mormon is true scripture and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who translated that ancient scripture. I also knew that we have a living prophet on the earth today to lead and guide Christ's church. I can promise anyone who seeks earnestly to know if these things are true, can and will know that these things are true by the power of the Holy Ghost. Some of the ways we can recognize the Holy Ghost is found in the New Testament, Galatians ch5 v22.

How I live my faith

Christ's church is a missionary church. I live my faith by sharing what I love and know to be true and that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try my best every day to live the commandments. John ch14 v15 says, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." I show my love for my Savior by keeping his commandments. He has done so much for me, at least I can do is keep the commandments.

Are Mormons Christians?

Landon
Yes! Christians are followers of Jesus Christ. Look at the title of our church. It is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If I'm not a Christian then I am not a Mormon. Simple as that. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Landon
We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by living his gospel. Faith is a principle of action. If we want stronger faith, we must act. The big 3 things we can do to increase our faith are prayer, studying the scriptures and going to church. Those are all actions. We can't expect or assume the Lord will grant us stronger faith without being tested or tried. Sometimes our faith will be tried. When we succeed or overcome our trial, our faith will become stronger. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

Landon
The First Vision is the vision that Joseph Smith had of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They came to him in answer to his prayer as he was wanting to know which true to join. Jesus Christ told Joseph that the church he established during his earthly ministry was not there. People were wanting to know the truth and knew bits and pieces of the truth so they started their own churches. That is why we see so many churches on the earth today. Also, the priesthood, or the authority to act in God's name was not on the earth. The priesthood is necessary for ordinances such as baptism. We have a loving Heavenly Father so He restored Christ's church through a prophet. Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet of God. We have a prophet on the earth today. His name is Thomas S. Monson. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Landon
Let me ask you this. If the ice cream man pulled you over and gave you a ticket because you were speeding would you pay it? No, because he has no authority. A police officer has the authority to write you a ticket though. This is the same way with Christ's church. He gives his authority to those who are worthy and able to hold that authority. This is what we call the priesthood. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that Christ established and that we hold the authority to perform baptisms that are necessary for salvation.  Show more Show less
