Hi I'm Shauna

I'm a mom of 5 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have 5 children. My family is definetly the most important thing to me! I love being involved in my children's activities. I enjoy volunteering at their schools and being associated with their peers and teachers! I've been blessed to work with the youth in our church and I've learned so much from them! I love people...I think there is good in everyone! I really like music, whether it's playing the piano, singing in a group, or just listening to a cd, I always find it very uplifting! I love sports! I would have to say basketball is my favorite and football a very close second! Our whole family enjoys sports and I'd have to say some of our very favorite memories have been watching a great football game on t.v., filling out our "March Madness" brackets for fun, or playing a game of basketball out on the court!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it truly make me happy! I have been a Mormon my whole life. My parents and church leaders encouraged me to find my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. Over time, I read the Book of Mormon on my own and really thought about the things I had been taught. As I read the Book of Mormon and lived what I had been taught, I felt as though I was becoming a better person. My faith in Jesus Christ was strengthened and as I would pray to God about these things, I would have such a quiet, calm, peaceful feeling. I wanted to be better and more Christlike. I would continue to have that same feeling each time I read out of the Book of Mormon or tried to be obedient to a gospel principle. I was so happy! I have had trials and challenges in my life just like each of us, but I have found by reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible and by following a living Prophet, my faith in Jesus Christ grows and I am able to find true happiness!

How I live my faith

Because I have been a life long member of the church, I have been bessed with many opporunities to serve others and to reap the benefit of service from others. I have been able to work with the youth of the church from ages 3-18. I've also been able to serve with the adult women of the church. It has truly been a blessing. I am currently serving as a youth leader for the young women of our church ages 12-18. We meet weekly where we plan activities from singing at the nursing home, to scavenger hunts, talent shows, to learning about photography, homemaking skills, parenthood, money management, etc. We have served our community by going to the Regional Foodbank, The Christmas Connection, helping with the Special Olympics, The Infant Crisis Center, and participating in a blood drive. I learn so much from these incredible teenagers! I'm also a visiting teacher where once a month I have the opportunity to visit 3 women from my church in their homes, to share a spiritual message with them, but mostly to enrich my life with their friendships.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Shauna
I believe in a living prophet today! God loves each of his children the same...today, yesterday, and forever. He created us all and because of His love for each of us, He would not leave us here without his guidance and direction. He spoke to the children of Israel through Moses and he speaks to us today through our living prophet Thomas S. Monson. Show more Show less
