Hi I'm Jared

I was born in the U.S.A. I grew up in Sydney Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love everything in life! I love to be happy, and try to be care free. I grew up all over the world, so my interests vary from skiing, to surfing, to playing hockey. I'm not really good at any of these, ha ha, but I have tons of fun doing all of them. I love to travel and see other parts of the world. I speak English, and I've recently picked up French, and Spanish. I love languages and learning about peoples cultures. I'm currently living in Québec City, which is completely French and not like any other part of North America. I lived for about 8 months in Montréal, where I spent tons of time with people from all over the world, so now I love African cultures, and Caribbean culture, and Middle Eastern cultures and foods! I used to live in Australia and I loved it too! See, I love everything!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and lived in Utah for a few years, where there are many members of my church. Then I moved to Toronto. I had heaps of friends there who didn't share my beliefs. This caused me to question my self, what my family believed, and what everyone back home in Utah seemed to believe. My parents had always taught me that God could answer prayers, and that when I need to know something really important, I could go to Him. With this supports I got from my family, and from church, I decided to really pray and ask God...but I didn't get much. That's when it hit me, I needed to look into the Church's doctrine and look at if for myself. I needed to show God that I really cared. So I decided to read the Book of Mormon. Not just read it, but really look at it, to see what it could offer me. Then, as I did that combined with constant prayer and asking God, I received directly from Him the answer that this was His church. I knew that the commandments were important to keep. I still loved my friends who weren't part of my faith, but I knew that what I had was too good to trade for their lifestyle. I'll always be grateful that I found out for my self, and I'm not leaning on another persons beliefs.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. That's how I'll always do it. I don't see much value in being someone on Sunday or Saturday, and someone else during the week. That's too complicated. =) Currently, I'm in Québec as a full time missionary for the church, meaning I spend 24/7 as a volunteer. I teach people how they can come closer to Jesus Christ through gaining more faith in Him and living His gospel. I've never been happier. This service will end for me in a few months. Then I'll continue a more regular life including family, university, and a job. I live my faith daily as I read my scriptures and as I pray to Heavenly Father. That is one of my favorite things; it's how I know that I can pray directly to God, and He will answer me. Questions, whether they be big or small, are answered by someone who knows me and my situation perfectly. Even if I don't have a question, we are invited, or lovingly commanded, to go to our Father in Heaven for everything. I love that. My faith isn't a part of my life, my faith makes up my life.
