Hi I'm Emerald

I grew up in Bohol, a beautiful island in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a sister to 11 other siblings. I love spending time with my family. Reading and sight seeing are my favorites. I'm also interested in teaching.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom joined the church when she was 14. My father got baptized when I was a baby. I was raised in this church. I tried to follow their example as a child as well as those taught to me by my teachers at church. I learn little by little. I tried to experiment if promises are true if we obey God. I feel good as I strive to choose and do what is right. I didn't get my testimony of the gospel overnight. Through the teachings that I learned, I decided to read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I tried to apply principles I learned like the importance of prayer and reading the scriptures. I also learned about the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for me and all people. I feel that and it strengthens me every time. I know that I have a loving heavenly Father. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ is our Savior. He made it possible for me, you, and all of us to go back to our heavenly home.

How I live my faith

I teach the young single adults in my branch. I also lead the young women, ages 12-18 in our district. As a leader, I help organize activities that strengthen their values. I am their friend:)

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in the sanctity of human life. Therefore, the Church opposes elective abortion for personal or social convenience, and counsels its members not to submit to, perform, encourage, pay for, or arrange for such abortions. The Church allows for possible exceptions for its members when pregnancy results from rape or incest, or a competent physician determines that the life or health of the mother is in serious jeopardy, or a competent physician determines that the fetus has severe defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth. Abortion is a most serious matter and should be considered only after the persons involved have consulted with their local church leaders and feel through personal prayer that their decision is correct."  Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Through His Atonement, to atone is to suffer the penalty for sins, thereby removing the effects of sin from the repentant sinner and allowing him or her to be reconciled to God, sins can be forgiven and we will once again live with our Father in Heaven with our loved ones.  Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I do. This knowledge is drawn from the truth that if God called Moses to be His spokesman for the people before, He calls one today too. He wants us to be blessed like them of old times. He's unchangeable.  Show more Show less
