Hi I'm Howie

I'm a convert to the Church.

About Me

I am a half Dutch, quarter Chinese, 1/8th German 1/8th Irish Canadian who became a US Citizen, also a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I graduated with a degree in Physics and have an MBA as well as an MD.

Why I am a Mormon

Starting out as a scientist I doubted the existence of a God, but I received a testimony, an answer to prayer in 1976, but only after I sincerely asked if the things that the missionaries taught me were true only after I read the Book of Mormon. I am now a grateful member of the Church these past 34 years, and my gratitude is to those two young men who taught me the gospel and a loving Father in Heaven who took time out to answer my prayer.

How I live my faith

I have served in many Church callings and all six of my children went to BYU. Now that my children have their own families, my wife and I still hold Family Home Evening, visit the Temple weekly and read the Book of Mormon, three columns per day one year per reading.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

My testimony was an answer to sincere prayer that seemed to come out of the blue with a sudden feeling of love and peace like I just passed my final medical school exams. Physically I had sustained goosebumps accompanying the feelings. I cannot ever deny that I received that answer. Show more Show less
