Hi I'm Ross

I'm a student, I'm a Hoosier and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Ross. I'm a college student from Indiana working toward a career in the medical field. I love to play basketball, soccer and just about any other sport that provides healthy competition. Im a people person. I like to get to know people and build friendships. I am inspired by the personal talents and abilities of others. I like a good laugh and I love coco puffs.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family and was raised with the teachings of the Mormon faith. When I was grown and moved out of the house I had a good knowledge of all of the beliefs but I came to a point where that knowledge did not seem to be enough. I didnt just want to know a bunch of facts and beliefs I wanted to know if they were really true. In particular, I wanted to know if my church was really God's church, as it claims to be. I also wanted to know if God had a prophet leading that church. This desire led me to pray to God. I prayed every night asking God if he existed and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was His church, or if it was not. I continued to pray for a couple weeks and became a little discouraged that I had not received an answer. I asked myself, "Am I doing something wrong? Why am I not getting an answer?" Despite having these toughts I continued to pray every night hoping that an answer would come. The decision not to give up paid off when one evening, while I was thinking about the church and its beliefs, my answer came. As I sat there I was filled with a feeling of clarity similar to the feeling you get when you finally understand something that you had not before, like a difficult concept in school. This feeling was accompanied by a feeling of peace and reassurance that comfirmed that what I was taught as a child was true. I recognized this as the answer to my prayers. The answer was that God exists, that this is His church and that He leads it through a living prophet, Thomas Monson . These answered prayers are the reason i'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Besides weekly church participation I live my faith by making it part of my daily schedule. Everyday, for a few minutes, I pray and I read the Bible and/or the Book of Mormon . This simple habit keeps my faith in tact every day. It also helps me to be more aware of ways that I can give someone help or encouragement which is another way I live my faith.
