Hi I'm Paul

I'm a husband, a father, a police officer, a soccer coach, a scuba diver and a ride a motorcycle, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a father of 3, a husband, a soccer coach, a Police Officer and an active member of my community. I ride a motorcycle on the Southern California freeways for fun, I love to cook, and love eating at nice restaurants. I have been described as a true "food snob."

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this Church. That does not mean it was always something I believed in. The truth is that I had to take the hard road to get where I am today. When I was 18 years old a good friend of mine, and a fellow Mormon, was killed in a traffic accident. His death forced me to recognize that I am one bad step away from standing before my God and accounting for my time here on earth. As I thought about what I would say if asked how I lived my life I realized I was not reaching my potential and needed to make changes in my life. Since that time I began the search for the true teachings of God that would bring me the peace and happiness I was looking for. Thankfully I found that the truth I was searching for was right in front of me the whole time. As I began living the teachings of His church I realized that I was happy in a simple way that set me apart from everyone else around me. As I progress in my life I continue to strengthen my conviction of the truthfulness of what I know to be true. I can honestly say that knowing Jesus Chirst, and what he did for me has saved my life. I see many ugly things that the world has to offer and I feel so sorry for the lost souls that are searching fruitlessly for the happiness that seems to elude them. Happiness is a process, it comes through living the teachings found in the scriptures, and revealed through modern day revelation. I invite anyone who is searching but not finding that happiness to do as I have done. Read the scriptures, pray with real intent, listen with your heart and you will find peace. 1 Corinthians 2:14.

How I live my faith

My wife and I take pride in the fact that we have developed a well rounded life that brings our faith, our community and our family into the same circle. We make sure we live in a way that represents what we believe. We also make sure that we enjoy everything this life has to offer, including the great people who do not share our faith. I have learned so much from my friends and neighbors who attend other churches or no church at all. I do stay very active in my own church activites however, as I am called to oversee all the young men (12 to 18 years old) in my congregation, aka: "young men's president". This assignment includes an active role as a leader in our Boy Scout Troop as well. I have been priviledged to watch my 27 young men grow in things both spirtual and wordly as they learn and progress through their teenage years. I have been especially blessed to watch and work with my own sons as they learn the skills necessary to be successful in life and as they develop their own spirituality. I know that the youth program is inspired by divine origin. There is no other way to explain how my kids are able to work through the pitfalls and trials of being a young person today without experiencing the same pain and sadness that their peers seem to find.

What is faith?

Faith is certainly the belief in something that is not seen. In a spiritual sense this often times is connected to God the Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. In my life faith is the motor that drives me. Without it I have no reason to keep working, serving and hoping. I believe that faith is the precursor to a perfect knowledge. As I live my life I try to know Jesus Christ more each day. It is not enough to know about him, but I must truly know him. As I do, not only does my faith in him increase, but I feel that I am closer to knowing Him as He truly is. When I know Christ better I know that I have a purpose. I know that the good things I do matter. I know that the mistakes I make also matter. I know that my mistakes can be removed and that I am loved no matter what. I know that my family is forever. I know that the happiness I experience is more than a moment in time, it is something that can be with me always. That happiness is a confirmation of the truth I have found. My faith in Christ gives me this knowledge. What would life be like without it? I can not imagine. Show more Show less
