Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a stay-at-home Mom of four. I love water sports, genealogy, & woodworking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports, especially swimming and running. I love living near the ocean and enjoying the water with my family. I enjoy woodworking, genealogy, reading, photography, sewing, and gardening. Years ago I served a Spanish-speaking mission for 18 months in southern California. I also earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a Spanish minor, but right now I dedicate myself full-time to my family. I love being a mom to our four kids and spending time with my husband - especially date night on Fridays! Some of the sweetest joys in my life come from watching the happy interactions of my family members. I love seeing my children grow up strong and capable, with solid values and faith, desiring for their future families the same blessings that we have sought for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon first and foremost because my courageous Mom learned about the church while dating my Dad, studied its teachings for many years, gained a testimony of its truthfulness, and was eventually baptized when I was 2 yrs old. My paternal grandparents also set a great example for me of a strong and happy marriage founded in gospel principles. I always believed the teachings of the Church were true, though I went through a period of inactivity during my teen years. At age 20, when I transferred to a new college in TX, I tried going to church again. I saw a degree of happiness and peace in the other young adults there that I did not feel in my own life. I knew it was the influence of the Holy Ghost, and I desired to have that influence back in my life again. I made a lot of changes in my life - it was hard and took some time - but through that process I was blessed to feel the love and forgiveness of my Father in Heaven, and to gain a deep and personal tesimony of the truthfulness of the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in small every-day ways. I know that great and important things can be accomplished over time through simple, meaningful actions and choices. I make it a priority to read from the scriptures daily. I try to turn to the Lord in prayer often, especially when I am faced with challenges or discouragement. As I do these things I feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit more clearly and frequently in my life. I try to set a good example for my kids in trying to serve and treat others in a Christ-like way. At church I serve as a Sunday school teacher for the adults. I really enjoy the challenge of immersing myself in the scriptures and trying to fully understand and apply the principles we discuss in class each week.
