Hi I'm Latu

I go to school. I blog. I play womens rugby. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I am 24 years old, dreading the big 2-5. I am going to school full time, and am still stuck in the everything-seems-interesting phase. Long term, the goal for me is to become a lawyer. Short term, it is to be a Child-Life Specialist. I play womens rugby, which eats up most of my free time, and teach a class for other single adults on Sundays.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my heart yearns and aches for the simple truths it brings. Without my faith, my life becomes a shell of what it could be. Something with infinite potential, but not straining toward any of it. I am a Mormon because it just makes sense to me. I don't have to over-think it or stress out about it. It is plain and simple truth.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by serving others. I teach a class for single adults on Sundays and enjoy telling my nieces and nephews stories from the scriptures.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Visitors are always welcome! Anyone wanting to know more can visit. Mormon Sunday services are three hours long. The three hour block is broken into approximate hour-long meetings. The order of the meetings varies, but there are the three parts. One hour is set aside for Sunday School. Children and youth attend according to their age, and adults attend together. One hour is set aside for the entire congregation to meet. In this meeting, there is a Sacrament administered, in which participation is not required The last meeting is for similar groups Children 18 months to 3 years old meet together, children 4 - 12 meet together, Youth 12-18 are split into girls and boys groups, and the adult women and men meet separately  Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

It was written by many different authors, but compiled by an ancient prophet named Mormon. That is where its name comes from.   Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I see the hand of God in many things, in the perfect structure of nature and the beauty of the mountains. I see God in the face of my family members and in flowers. Mostly, though, I know there is a God because my heart burns with joy at the knowledge. Show more Show less
