Hi I'm Rian

I have three older sisters. I grew up in Utah. My dad is my best friend, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite colors are red, black, and purple. I like to read and play video games, especially with my dad. Everything to me is in someway connected to my family and the more time i can spend with them the better.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young I often asked my parents the "hard questions." Like "Why do I have to go to church every week?" Sometimes they would explain it and I still wouldnt be able to understand what they were trying to tell me. I have always been amazed at the language in the Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible. One of my favorite stories was David and Goliath. mostly because my dad was three times my size. But through reading about David's faith I learned that everyone can have that same trust in the Lord. As I grew older I became more interested in what the scriptures said, and what the deeper meanings were. As I began to learn more for myself I became more aware that following Christ is much more difficult than simply saying that you believe in Him. It's truly changing yourself to be like Him and follow His example.

How I live my faith

I love serving people. whenever i get the chance i try to talk to my friends about whatever they struggle with and then go do something fun so they dont feel so bad. i have found that a listening ear is the best solution to almost every problem in life.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Rian
"The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion." -Jospeh Smith. To me the Book of Mormon is everything that Christ taught, in a second witness to His Divine role as our Savior. The Book of Mormon is what holds up the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Just as an arch falls without a proper size keystone, the church would fall were it not for the Book of Mormon. This is because the doctrine taught by Christ is contained and clarified, making it so that by studying the Bible with the Book of Mormon we can understand all the mysteries of heaven.  Show more Show less

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Rian
Baptism is essential for us to return and live with our Heavenly Father. It is symbolic of death and resurrection. When we enter the waters of baptism we covenant, or promise God, that we will keep his commandments and always remember Him. It also cleanses us from past transgressions. We can renew this covenant each week as long as we repent by taking the Sacrament.  Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Rian
We believe that marriage does not end with death. We also have the assurance that we can be together forever. We focus on building the family and family relationships because our Heavenly Father knows each of us personally, and has placed us with those whom He knows we will grow to love. Why would you want to be with people you hate all the time? The family is also the most basic unit in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, partly because parents have the primary responsibility to teach their children, and the Church is there not to replace parenting but to help in parenting. Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Rian
Nope... We know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought joy into our lives, so we try to help others to understand the scriptures by going on missions. We also get involved in our communities and help others by giving service and volunteering or donating time and talents for those who are not able to do certain things for themselves. One of my favorite things to do is a community building project or painting someones fence. Just get about 20 people and it only takes about an hour. Plus you get to see everyone else with paint all over.  Show more Show less
