Hi I'm Scott

I enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life. I appreciate the good in all people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the western United States, and have lived in various parts of the U.S. as well as in other countries. I am married, and my wife and I have three children. While very young I became interested in sports and in outdoor activities, and I've enjoyed athletics, camping, hiking and outdoor work ever since. I was a talented student, and enjoyed school. My favorite subjects were history, science and economics, and I earned degrees in engineering and business. I currently enjoy being involved in good causes, whether that be helping my wife and children, doing my best for my employer, teaching, doing things for other people or working with Boy Scouts. For recreation I enjoy playing basketball, running, riding bikes, walking, camping and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

The Spirit has often witnessed to my soul the truth of certain things. One of these occasions was when I was young, and my parents spoke of the atonement of Jesus Christ. I had an overwhelming feeling that Jesus is my Savior. That feeling has come back to me time and again. Reading the scriptures brings me closer to the Lord. The Bible teaches me much about Jesus' life and example. The Book of Mormon helps me feel the Savior's love and helps me understand the meaning of His sacrifice. The scriptures teach me that I am a child of God and have the potential to return to live with Him after I die. While still a teenager, I was part of a group listening to man, a prophet of God, speak. The man's name was Ezra Taft Benson. The Spirit, like a fire inside of me, let me know that this man was truly a witness of the Lord Jesus Christ. His testimony of the Savior strengthened my own faith. This experience taught me that God has called prophets and apostles to teach us in these modern times. These experiences all occured because of my association with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the Church of Jesus Christ I learn about the Savior and have opportunities to serve him. I am taught from the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. I am taught by modern-day prophets and apostles of the Lord. Because the Holy Spirit has attended me during these expereinces, I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

It is important to me to be kind and thoughtful to other people, to be appreciative of the kindness they show me, and to help them. Although I certainly fall short of the standard set by Jesus Christ, I try my best to do what He would do. How would He want me to help these people that He has put into my path? Through prayer, I try to find out what my Heavenly Father wants for me and for his other children. I spend time helping the members of my own and my extended families. I try to be selfless and think more about them than I think about myself. I work hard to support my family. I try to set a good example for them, and try never to do or say anything that would harm them. As a Mormon, I serve in whatever capacity I'm asked to serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I also spend time teaching other people what I know about the Lord Jesus Christ and about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This involves talking with my friends, family, neighbors and other members of the Church. My goal is to help others feel the influence of the Spirit so that they can know what I know, and be happy like I am happy.
