Hi I'm Nick

I grew up in Minnesota. I like books and computers. I'm going to college to become a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student working on becoming a teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL). Linguistics has always fascinated me since I learned German, and I look forward to learning more about how people learn language. I enjoy school, and I enjoy teaching and sharing what I know with others. Seeing that moment when a student comes to truly understand what they are learning is the greatest thing I can imagine. Making a difference in the lives of my students is what I hope for.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but my parents always stressed that I needed to find out things for myself. I always felt something special when I heard people talk about the gospel at church, or when I read in my scriptures. It was this feeling that led me to believe that I had found something special in my life and is why I served a mission and keep attending. I know that God lives and that he has prophets here on the earth today. They truly testify of Christ and his gospel.

How I live my faith

I currently organize activities and service projects for the young single adult members in my area. We often get together to do things at least once a week, and we seek out opportunities to give service. I was taught as I grew up how important it is serve one another, and I can trace feelings of happiness and connection to those moments we have shared together giving service.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

We are not alone in our moments of need. As I learn more about the teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel, my appreciation and love for him increase. Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, and in doing so also suffered our pains and sorrows. Bad things happen to good people, but the Atonement covers everything that is unfair. As we turn to the Savior in our moments of need and suffering, he will support us. Christ suffered for us because he loves us, and it is because of Christ that we may become clean and have the deep wounds in our hearts healed. We are not perfect, and will fall short, but the Atonement is there to help us accomplish the things that we can't do alone. It is my testimony that Jesus Christ died for our sins but rose up on the third day so that we can follow him and return to our Father in Heaven if we will believe and follow the Savior while we are here on Earth.
