Hi I'm Dalan

I work in business for a fortune 50 company, I read, I play soccer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Our little family loves to have a good time, whether that's $5 pizza and a $1 movie nights, walks, friends over for games/food, or vacations to beautiful places - we know just what it takes to have a great time! I am passionate about my work, and I really enjoy playing soccer, a sport I have played my whole life. My wife and I enjoy going on walks and spending time outdoors. I love to wrestle and play with my one-and-a-half-year-old son. We are excited to accept another addition to our family soon: a baby girl! My ultimate drive and purpose is truly realized in guiding and leading my family to happiness. The map we have used successfully? The gospel taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

My experiences lead me to a strong belief that God exists, that Jesus Christ is His Son and our Savior, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was formed and is guided by that same Jesus Christ through men called apostles and prophets. My strongest evidences of my firm belief come after kneeling and praying often, asking - pleading - for some knowledge or hint if God is real, if I am an eternal being, and if there really is a plan for my future, and on many different occasions receiving answers to those prayers through personal spiritual feelings, the words of church leaders, or passages of scripture. I have found other evidences studying the doctrines and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: By reading and studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible, considering things taught in church, through church manuals, or by church leaders and comparing it all to my own experiences and the what I observe around me. So (to sum up) I am Mormon because I have taken the significant time to pray and ponder over truths, to understand doctrines and teachings, and to apply commandments and suggestions in my life. After the considerable amount of thought, pondering, prayer, and study I have put into it, I am convinced that God lives, that Jesus is His Son and my Savior, that Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ and was instructed to start a church, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's organization.

How I live my faith

My life and my faith are inseparable. I do not do some chunk of tasks each week to check of the "living my faith" box. Everything I do is influenced by my faith and conversely, my faith is influenced by the things I do. At work, at home, and at church I think about what I know to be true and do my best to act accordingly. That being said, I have been involved with church service for a very long time. Our church is run by volunteerism. "Callings" or invitations to serve are extended and accepted or declined according to willingness to volunteer. My first experience with church volunteer work was at age 12. I was asked to be president of a small group of boys about my age. It was my responsibility to watch over those boys and help them. Since then I have had many similar opportunities, including a full time mission where I left my home to teach others for two full years, with no visits or vacations. I have also accepted callings to teach classes on Sundays and to organize and oversee the growth and progression of others. Currently I am responsible for helping the members of my ward share their faith with others. Giving my time to such acts of volunteering in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been one of the most rewarding activities of my life, and yet another testimony to me that these things are true.
