Hi I'm Jodean

I’m a nurse, a cancer survivor, a caregiver and I’m a mormon.

About Me

I was diagnosed with Cancer at the age of 23, just when I was about to start a new chapter in my life. They found the cancer during a required physical exam prior to migrating to the Unites States to work as a nurse. Coming from a third world country, it’s a dream to be able to work abroad. When I received the bad news, my life flashed before me. I thought I was going to die or if I lived I thought I’ve lost my chance to work abroad. I prayed, received a priesthood blessing and found comfort that I will be OK. The Lord had provided a way for me to get the treatment that I needed and I was able to live my dream to work as a nurse here in the U.S. It’s been 17 years now and I’m cancer free. December of 2011, my husband just got diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Three years prior to this event I was recruited to work with cancer patients at a local hospital. I have to say the Lord could not have better prepared me for this experience. His condition came spiraling down days after the diagnosis. My experience as an oncology nurse has helped me take care of my husband. The knowledge of the gospel, of the Savior’s redeeming love and our faith in Jesus Christ has pulled us thru the most difficult times. We saw the Lord’s hand in all things. We’ve been tremendously blessed. My husband is not yet cured but is definitely so much better. Now all these experiences are helping me be a better nurse, wife, and caregiver. God has a plan for each of us. He lives and loves us so much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I know the Savior Jesus Christ lives. I know we are all children of God. He loves us all and knows each and everyone of us individually. He hears and answers our prayers. He wants us all to be happy. He gave us scriptures and sent us prophets or leaders of the church to guide us in the path of happiness. Living the gospel helps me become closer to Him and helps me become an instrument to do good to others and manifest His love to all mankind. I love the Book of Mormon. I know it is true. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God just like Abraham, Noah, Moses and many others. He is called in our time to help restore the fullness of the gospel so we can all return in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do what is right and by serving others. It's not always easy. But, that is what the gospel is about. To try to be like Jesus. Follow His example.
