Jinnie Poaletti Murphy: Mormon.

Hi I'm Jinnie Poaletti Murphy

About Me

I am a mother of two children and grandmother of four children and great grandmother of one. After over fifty years of marriage, my husband passed on. I married a second time and am currently a widow once more. I like to sew, mostly craft items and quilts. I am people oriented and enjoy the fellowship of others.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 44 years. At the time our children were quite small. The missionaries who called on me were outstanding, and I wanted my son to have the qualities these young men had. I have always attended church so it wasn't a leap for me when I heard the true gospel. I was 26 years old at the time I was baptized. It might have been a leap of faith, but over the years I have been convinced time and time again that I was in the right place. My testimony is my most precious posession. I know the church is true because I have lived it and seen its effect on my family members. I will always be grateful for those young men who called me on the phone and wanted to share their message with me.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

To share the gospel with others in the world. This was a commandment Jesus gave his disciples. But a mission is more than that. It is an opportunity for a young man/woman or older man/woman to grow and develop in confidence, knowledge and sometimes another language. As in most things in life, we are the recipients of the greatest blessings whenever we serve someone else. This is true of missionary service. Ask any returned missionary!!

How I live my faith

I try to implement the lessons, talks, counsel I have received over the years into my behavior. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ! As I give service to others or to responsibilities I have accepted as a church member, I think of what I owe the Savior and can never repay, but can show my love by being faithful to the baptismal covenants I made - to always remember Him! I have had opportunities to teach adults, youth and very young children. On each occasion, I have learned more about my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. My faith is a blessing in my life.
