Hi I'm James

I'm a Sailor. I have traveled the world. I have a wonderful wife and three awesome kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a simple man plagued by all demands of being a husband, father and having a very rewarding yet demanding employment as an active duty Sailor. I enjoy seeing the world with my family by my side. Throughout our life together I have learned that I enjoy being with them the most. Their interests our my interests and my interests are their interests because we are a family.

Why I am a Mormon

In my teenage years I had asked my self a series of questions. “What is the purpose of life?” “Who am I and why was I created?” If people get married “Why do we have a preacher who claims to be the servant of God only to marry people until death?” To me if God has ordained you to marry a man and a woman then since he is God shouldn’t that marriage be forever? Why does death cause that union to end? I tired many different faith’s that only gave me part of the answers to my questions. The interesting thing is not a single church or faith that I attended told me to ask God himself through prayer for the answers that I sought after until I sat down with two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who told me to do just that. As I asked in prayer and studied the scriptures I found all the answers to my questions. The peace and joy I feel in my life is indescribable. There is a plan and we each were created for a reason, and families have always been mean’t to be together and can be together forever. The truthful answers that I received did not come from the missionaries but from God him self. I received and have grown a testimony of a true and living heavenly father and his very real son Jesus the Christ.

How I live my faith

In the movie Transformers while the main character is trying to convince his teacher to give him an “A” in the class he asks the ultimate question... "What would Jesus do?" Even though the main character is pulling on the merciful side of his teacher the "WWJD" question is the simplest way to describe how I live my faith. Being Mormon also know as LDS (Latter Day Saint) is about applying the true teachings or gospel of Jesus Christ in your life. Its not just checking off a daily list of activities but rather striving to follow the Savior’s example in everyday living. When I run into situations on how I should act and not react I ask the ultimate question "What would Jesus do?" When I do and make choices the Savior would have done then I am able to draw closer to him and become more of true disciple, a better Christian. My kids know if you were to ask them "Who is your Dad's hero?" They will tell you Jesus Christ. I can't think of a better role model for them or for me...Can you?
