Hi I'm Maria

I was born and raised in Mesa, AZ. I donated my kidney to my dad in October 2010. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I started running about a year ago and learned to love it! I ran my first Full Marathon (26.2 miles) in June 2010. I recently donated my kidney to my dad in October 2010. I love to dance and be physically active. I am fluent in Spanish and English. I am currently going to a community college and work at an Elementary School, Special Ed Department, which is rewarding.

Why I am a Mormon

Having my parents be converts to the church taught me that each person has to receive their very own testimony of the gospel. I always believed that the gospel was important and that what I learned each Sunday was beneficial for myself and spirit. I have 2 older siblings, brother and sister, that served full time missions, and I remember thinking how could they be away from our family so long. Is the Gospel and love for our Savior that strong, do they believe in the gospel that much to sacrifice so much time? Thats when I decided to ask the Lord, to ask if what I believe is really true and that important, not just for myself but others as well. I prayed and I recieved my answer that I should serve a mission. Still not knowing exactly what my answer was I followed the guidance of the spirit and went on a mission. During my mission my prayer was answered everyday and minute. The love that a missionary grows for others is so strong that there is no denying that what the church teaches is true, because it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I learned that believing is not enough sometimes but only the beginning to really know something. On my mission is where I learned to know that the gospel is true and no one can ever take that from me.

How I live my faith

I try my best to continue missionary work now that I am home. If I ever get the opportunity in school, work and the time is right I will share the gospel and invite others to church. I teach Gospel Doctrine in my ward and also help out with the Spanish interpreting.
