Hi I'm Amy M.

I'm an artist, a disability advocate, a mom, and a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have four wonderful children, and my family is the biggest source of joy for me. I love being a wife and mother. I love having a daughter with Down syndrome - she is a source of pure joy, even though she is a teenager! She imbues the light of Christ in her countenance, and has a beautiful personal relationship with her Heavenly Father and Savior. She is my greatest teacher. When I have some rare spare time, I love composing music, watercolor painting, creative writing, calligraphy, disability advocacy, and teaching Sunday School. Right now I'm a college student again, working on a second bachelor's degree in secondary education. Life is about learning and growing and progressing - and when I have a strong relationship with my Father in Heaven, life is so good!

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I love that He has shown me the way to live which will result in true happiness and fulfillment - not just something transitory, but something eternal and lasting. I have felt His strength fill me and carry me through the roughest times, and I testify that He is real and that He has restored the fullness of His gospel again to the earth.

How I live my faith

My service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has spanned two decades and has helped me stretch and grow in many ways. I have served as the chorister, leading music for both congregational meetings and for the children ages 3-11. I have served with the Young Women ages 12-18 in every capacity over the years and absolutely love them - serving the youth is my favorite calling! I am currently teaching our Gospel Principles class each Sunday and love learning along with those who attend this class. We serve without financial compensation, but the Lord has always compensated me in every other way as I choose to serve Him. It's amazing how all the many other obligations in my life fall into place when I choose to put the Lord first.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Amy M.
When I find something that makes me happy and brings me joy, I want to tell others, especially if it is something that has changed my life for the better, provided answers to my deepest questions, or brought me the kind of peace that cannot be bought at any price. We live in uncertain times when people are seeking for this peace, those answers. I testify the restored gospel of Jesus Christ does all these things - it changes people's lives for the better, it answers the most probing, perplexing questions about the meaning of life, and it brings a powerful peace that has nothing to do with one's outward circumstances. If this were something you could buy, the richest people in the world would spare no expense to obtain it. And yet it is free for all those who truly seek it, and that is the beauty of it. What is the Law of Chastity?

Amy M.
The Law of Chastity is a beautiful spiritual and physical protection to God's children, a commandment to keep us pure, unspotted, and protected from the world. It is that we remain sexually pure, intimately committed to our spouse and none other. This means abstinence before marriage and complete fidelity afterward. We live in a day where the media promotes promiscuity as normal and healthy, and chastity as outdated and old-fashioned. Nothing could be further from the truth. Beyond the medical risks of sex outside of marriage, there are emotional and psychological dangers associated with breaking this law. Infidelity destroys families and breaks the hearts of those who are betrayed. My husband and I talk openly with our children about the beautiful gift of intimacy that the Lord has prepared for husbands and wives when they are married, a godly gift that should be respected and anticipated but never abused.
