Hi I'm Randy Howell

I'm a teacher. I am a Dad. Father of 5. I am Married. I grew up in Murray, UT and moved to Upper Township, NJ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 5 children, 4 of them my sweet wife gave birth to. The 5th we adopted from Korea. I love to walk and I enjoy walking especially in the morning before the sun rises or just as it is rising. I often listen to hymns or audio books on my i-pod. The quiet of the morning is very peaceful and often allows me to have some spiritual time.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the LDS church, so I was baptized at the age of 8 years old. I cannot remember a time when I did not know the church was true. I remember listening to the Joseph Smith story as he was visited by God the Father and Jesus Christ. To me, it made sense and rang true to me. Later I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. It was then that my testimony of the gospel sank deep within my heart. I now have no doubts that the gospel of Jesus Christ is here upon the earth, and administered by chosen men, who have been called by authority to act in God's name.

How I live my faith

I work at a school in Ocean City, NJ. The school is on a barrier island and our school is 4 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. Each day I walk across the playground and I think about how different it is in New Jersey compared to how it was when I was a kid growing up in Murray, UT. I am the only member of the LDS church in the school and that reminds me that I am a link to those around me to the church. I may be the only person that they know that is LDS. Therefore I make sure that I am doing all of the things that I am suppose to do. I try and show kindness to the students and my co-workers. I currently work in the Young Men's program inour ward. When I am asked to do something I make sure that I only need to be asked once. I try and put the needs of the Young Men in our ward first.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Randy Howell
One of the great realities that I have is knowing that I can be with my sweetheart, my wife, my spouse for all of this life and throughout eternity. How can this be possible? Because of the sealing power that Jesus Christ gave to His disciples. He said in Matthew 16:19: "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" With the restoration of the gospel to the earth through Joseph Smith, that sealing power to bind on earth and bind in heaven has also been restored. When someone accepts the Atonement of Jesus Christ and follows the Savior's example, sacred ordinances can be performed in the temples that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has built around the world. Included in the ordinances that are performed in the temple is the sealing of husband and wife together for "time and all eternity". Thus creating a Forever Family. Death does not need to end a cherished relationship developed here on earth. Those same cherished relationships can continue after we leave this mortal life. Children are sealed to parents and a Forever Family is created through the sealing power that Jesus Christ gave to His disciples. Show more Show less
