Hi I'm Katrina Peterson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother, a wife, a teacher and a friend. I am first and foremost a wife. I love my husband, and feel like together we can conquer all that life has to throw at us. I am a mother. My four children teach me patience daily, and bring out my best and worst. I learn so much from them, and desire their happiness, and growth both physically and spiritually. I am a teacher. I substitute teach in the schools in my area. I love going into a class and interacting with students who turned their brain off the moment they realized there was a "substitute". What they find out is that I am a person too, and though I am there to keep them in line, I am also a geniune lover of children and youth. They have so much potential, and sometimes they just forget. I can remind them, even in the few short minutes I have with them. Kind words speak volumes. I am a friend, I have the most wonderful friends, and hope to be a friend to all I encounter. Caring counts, whether it is caring about someone you know, or someone you've just met.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, however, I did have to decide for myself if I believed what was being taught. At about 14 I decided to put my faith to the test and do what teachers and leaders had asked me to. I began reading The Book of Mormon, and praying to see if it was right and true. I received an answer. I knew for myself that the Book of Mormon was from God and I was right in following it's precepts. I have looked back on this experience many time in my life as my faith in God continues to grow. The experience didn't change. I knew the truth, and God knew I knew. I can't deny it. The Church of Jesus Christ teaches the Great Plan of Happiness. Christ came to earth to help us, and for this I am grateful. I have direction in my life, I have peace in my life, I have meaning in my life when I follow the teachings of Christ. It is for this reason that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow Christ's example. At present I am a teacher in the Women's organization in our church. I teach women from age 18 to 108 on Sundays. The lessons are derived from talks given my apostles in the church. I also teach at the local nursing home. I go once a month on wednesdays and teach LDS doctrine to the ladies there. I love interacting with those ladies. They are wise, and have so many facinating stories and ideas to share. It is always a time of learning and sharing and growing as friends and Sisters in Christ. Right now I am also organizing a Christmas Party for our ward.(unit within the church) I am on a committee to organize, plan and feed 200 members at this party. I am also a visiting teacher, this is a special thing for me. I go with another lady in my ward and we visit 4 other ladies once a month to see how they are. I love doing this. I have made friends that I never would have made, and met people I never would have met if I had not "visited". When we visit we sometimes leave a spiritual message, but we also talk, and just enjoy one another's company. My parnter and I also enjoy leaving cookies or bread for the ladies. At times, meals and babysitting has been traded between friends. Christ did these very things when he was on the earth. He talked and visited, and knew the people. I am trying to follow his example in this respect.
