Hi I'm Austi

I am an Irish Step Dancer, I have 10 siblings, I love to learn and teach & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a large family which has kept getting bigger. I am now the middle child of 11 and have 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Although it is crazy sometimes, I enjoy always having someone to talk to. We all grew up dancing and Irish step dancing and clogging are my favorites. Ever since I was in second grade I’ve wanted to be a teacher and hope to pursue this love for the rest of my life. I am currently in school getting a degree in education. I love to learn new things and read the encyclopedia for fun as a child. I think the best ways to learn are by asking questions and to never walk away from someone until you have learned something from them. The world is my stage and my classroom.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Book of Mormon. It answers so many of my questions and the questions of the world. I have been lost and confused so many times, but inevitably, I can open this book and find answers that make sense and feel right in my heart. Most importantly, it has brought me closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ, than any other teaching or book. My favorite thing that the Church teaches is that it is our responsibility to know truth for ourselves. The Book of Mormon reinforces this teaching. Read it, study it, ponder it, and then ask God for yourself. I have obtained from God that which man cannot give, nor take away.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to help those around me. I believe that most often our prayers to God are answered by those around us. God allows us to be His tools, His angels, His hands. In my congregation I have served as a Sunday school teacher, worked with other young single adults in organizing activities to strengthen and support those around us and visited members of our congregation to serve them in times of stress or trouble. I love watching people build their faith in God, learning to trust and rely on Him more and am grateful that I get to be a part of building that relationship. There is a scripture in the Book of Mormon that says it best. “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God” Mosiah 2:17.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Austi
I believe that the purpose of this life is to learn and progress. We believe that we lived with our Heavenly Father before we were born to this earth. We are his spirit children. In this life we walk by faith, not by sight. It is a time to have experiences and to see if we will do what our Heavenly Father would have us do. In all reality, it is like going away to college. We have to have a time away from home to see what choices we will make when we don't have our parents there guiding and checking up on us all the time. They are ever aware of us and want us to make choices that will bring us the most happiness, but it is a time for us to make our own choices. It is also our choice to decide how much a part of our lives we want our parents to be. The same goes with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
