Hi I'm Kent

I grew up in Idaho and love to climb mountains..., and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent 6 years in Europe in Belgium and Luxembourg, 7 years in So. Calfornia, and I now enjoy the green of Northeast Ohio and the beautiful sunsets. I like to run, cross-country ski, but mostly just enjoying time with my family. We have 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys, and 6 grandchildren. They are our greatest treasure. I am the Director of Supply Chain Services for a fortune 500 company and love my job. I help create new Services and programs for our customers. I love helping people reduce waste and find better ways to do things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 6th generation member. My ancestors joined the church in England, Germany, Scandinavia, Switzerland, and France. They crossed the plains and helped settle communities in the mountain west. I am a decendent of these Mormon Pioneers. I am grateful for the faith and sacrifice they made to come to this country, to keep their faith and carve a living out of the wilderness. I have studied this faith, and asked God for myself. I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon. I believe it to be the word of God along with the Bible. I know God is real and that He loves each of us. He hears and answers prayers. He has called prophets in our day to teach and warn us. He wants us to be happy. Following His Gospel with Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ has brought great joy, direction and happiness into my life.

How I live my faith

Service is a great source of joy for me. I have worked with our youth in Boy Scouts, served as "Bishop" (lay minister) of our local congregation, and worked with our missionaries. I serve in the community as President of the "Friends" of our local library, and help with other community events. My sons and I were able to help with the disaster recovery efforts following the flooding in Findley, Ohio a few years ago. As a teenager I helped with recovery efforts following the Teton Dam flooding in Idaho. My parents taught me by their examples to show my gratitude by reaching out to help others.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Temples are special places where we can go to perform sacred ordinances to allow our families to be together forever. Christ taught this doctrine and gave the "keys" to this power to Peter. We believe that these "keys" have been restored and we are able to exercise them within sacred (not secret) temples. We want our family relationships to last beyond death. This is possible through the blessings of the temple. Show more Show less
