Hi I'm Carolyn

I am from Virginia. I am an artist. I like making art about robots.

About Me

It took me years to realize I wanted to pursue being an artist even though I drew all the time as a child. I recently graduated from college with a degree in studio art. While I may not know right now what I want to do with my future, I do know that love making art and I put my whole heart into whatever art idea comes to me. My art lately has a lot of robots in it. I'm trying to talk about technology, avatars, sense of self, and experiences in a playful yet serious way. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. Whether at work or my own personal studies I try to learn something new everyday. What's more important to me than art is my family. My parents, two brothers, and my little sister are my best friends. I try in simple ways to be a good example to them and let them know that I love them. Since, I'm the oldest girl and the first to leave home, I feel like my siblings are watching me as a model for what they can do in the future. I want the best things in life for them so I live my life the very best for them too.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm grateful for my parents who always taught me the importance of going to church and living what you believe. Though I was raised in this church I came to the point when I was about 15 years old I questioned why I was being so faithful. I wanted to know for myself that this was my faith and not just the faith of my parents. I studied the scriptures and prayed a lot and kept looking out for a sign that this was the true church or something like that. I read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and follow the teachings of the prophets. There wasn't a beam of light or a voice from heaven. Over time I came to recognize a quiet, confident, peaceful feeling whenever I did things God asked. That feeling told me I was in the right place and God would make great things of me as I rely on him. In the years since I have been able to recognize more what God wants me to do and those are the things that have brought me the most happiness.

How I live my faith

I'm a lover of being helpful and working hard. I love it when I can look back on a day of work and see what was done. I get the feeling like, "Yeah! I did that and it was a good thing!" It's that kind of feeling that always makes me seek out more opportunities to help out. My favorite kind of project to take on is the kind that benefits those around me. I especially love when service that comes my way includes creativity and imagination.
