Hi I'm Justin

I'm the first in my family to join the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from southern California. I'm the youngest of three children. My family is of Swedish and African background. I love to learn, listen to music, watch movies, and going to the beach. In my future I plan to go to college and major in Phycology.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in my United States history class back when I was about 16. There was just something about what I was learning that caught my attention. I learned a little bit about the Book of Mormon and what the Church belived for two days in my history class. I maniged to get my hands on a Book of Mormon some time late and started reading it. I was not intrested in joinging the church at the time I just thought it was sometinhg cool to look into. I read some of the Book of Mormon and looked at the Church we site to learn a little more about the Church. I stoped my looking into the Church after only a few weeks, after all I was not raised in any church in my life and had no faith in Jesus Christ so I did not feel I wanted to keep looking in to the Church. I was not untell I turned 19 that I came to a point in my life where I started wanting to know what I belived in, did I beleive in Christ? or God? I desided to pick up where I left off with my study of the Church some time before. I began with reading the Book of Mormon and for the first time started following its teachings in hope that I could find out if it where true or not. One day I read from the book of Alma, who is a Prophet in the Book of Mormon, witch said the this Prophet had fasted, gone with out eating, and prayed to know if what he had been taught about Christ was true. A deep feeling came upon me to do what this Prophet had done to know if there really is a God and that Jesus Christ is his Son. I fasted and prayed one day with all my heart to know if God and Jesus Christ where real. I tolled my self this will work or it will not, because if there is realy is a God then I will get an answer just like this Prophet had said or I would not. My answer did not come all at one moment. Over time I found my self beleiving in what the Church taught and that what I was reading was true. After knowing for shure that I beleived in God and Jesus Christ I desided to reach out and contact the Church for the first time. Before this I had done all of what I did on my own, reading, fasting and praying. I used Mormon.org to get in contact with the Missionarys, they came over two days later. I tolled the Missionarys in the first meeting that I wanted to be Baptised. We set a date for me to be baptised and I was taught for the next five weeks before finaly being baptised. I want every one to know that what I did to know if God and Jesus Christ are real will work for you. Yet do it with all your heart and mind. I now know Jesus Christ lives because of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by putting God first and every thng else around him. For expample, if I apply for a job the first thing I put would be that I can not work Sunday. I make my life so that I have time to always go to my church meetings and assingments. If something in my life gets in the way of me going to my church meetings or assingments I quickly get rid of it. This is not easy, often requiring a lrge amount of sacrafice. But I know doing this has blessed my life and will yours as well.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Justin
The money that the church receives form its members is used to pay for the construction of meeting houses, the building of special buildings called Temples, and other needs of the church. No one in the church is paid for their service, all is done voluntary by members from their local communities. Show more Show less
