Hi I'm Megan

I'm from Houston, I'm excited to work with special needs children, I love to travel...anywhere, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello Everyone! My name is Megan and I am from Houston, Texas. I went from the wonderful HOT weather in Houston to super cold weather when I attended college. I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood/ Special Education. I have taught 1st grade and all grades in Special Education. I love children and am looking forward to working with them everyday. I am currently serving a mission for a year and a half in Salt Lake, Temple Square and Tuscaloosa, Alabama Roll Tide!. I love to travel all over wish I could go everywhere. I have a goal to go to as many places as possible! We will see how that goes...if only money grew on trees. I love doing new things, and love life.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom and I got introduced to the church when she met my now step dad, and I have been so greatful for him sharing it with us. My mom joined the church and then I did. I knew about the church and was pretty much raised in it, but it did not mean anything to me until I wanted to know for myself if all of this I was learning was really truth. I was able to know through simply praying to my Heavenly Father and asking Him if it was. I got an answer to my question, and that has helped me to who and where I am today. I love this gospel, and that is something that I loved about the church when I heard about it was that it was such a personal answer you recieve just not believing what someone says. Having this gospel has blessed me in my life more than you can imagine.

How I live my faith

I try and live my faith the best I can everyday! I try and focus on those things that I know I should. Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, reading my scriptures, praying etc.. When I do those things daily it just seems to go better. I know I am not alone in this life. I have someone there ever willing to help, give comfort and, just be there for and with me. It means so much to me I also try and share it with others for them to have this knowledge and comfort in their own life. I also try and take on those attributes of Christ and really live what I believe. I want people to recodnize that I am a follower of Jesus Christ and His teachings.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jesus Christ! We believe that The Mormon church is Christ's church he set up, re-established or restored back on the earth today. Joseph Smith was a regular 14 year old boy, living in the early 1800's who had a question as to what church had the truth? He prayed to his Heavenly Father to know and got the answer that it was not on the earht at that time. He was the one who brought Christ's church back in 1830. He did everything he did to bring Christs' authority and truth back on the earth for us today. The men that hold the authority we call the preisthood in our church hold the same authority Christ and his diciples held back then. And it is all here for us! Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Missionaries fund their own way. They go through an application process and get called anywhere in the world from Kansas to Bulgaria. They live off of the funds they save before and recieve throughout their missions. The prize they recieve the best 11/2 girls or 2 boys years of their lives!!  Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes we believe that God loves his Children and wants to lead, guide and help us today, just as He did in antient times. We believe that we do have a living prophet on the earth today and his name is President Thomas S. Monson. He is just an ordinary person like you and me, but he has the authority that Christ had, and he is able to recieve revelation for the entire church. We listen to Him and other leaders of our church speak twice a year at General Confrence, and read guidance and teachings from them monthy in our church magazines. It is great to be guided by someone today that knows the will of the Lord and helps us through the days and world we are living in now. To have a modern prophet today really shows me that God loves us and wants to help us. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Everyone is able to come to a knowledge/answer of the truthfullness of this Gospel on their own. First you would leqarn about it. That is why we have missionaries, to go out and teach people about the gospel and answer any questions that they have. They are guides in their jouney in coming to the truthfullness of this Gospel. Then it is simple. There is a promise in the back of the Book of Mormon where the last prophet, Moroni, tells how you can know, by praying. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." Moroni 104-5 Its that simple! Learn about it, reflect on what you learn, look for more, and then ask your Heavenly Father. If you believe you can get an answer he will tell you through the Holy Spirit. It is something that I have done and can tell you if you go about it with the right attitude really wanting to know, you can come to find out too!  Show more Show less
