Hi I'm Courtney

I'm open minded, strong willed, and enthusiastic. I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I'm the youngest of nine children, born and raised in California. I lived a relatively normal childhood, graduated early from high school, licensed in cosmotology and thought I was on track for the rest of my life. A few months after practicing as a cosmotologist I determined there was more in store for me and my future. Four years later I graduated from college with a degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development and a whole lot of life experience. And now I'm on a mission and the growth and progression continues.

Why I am a Mormon

Being raised in the church I've always had a belief that the gospel of Jesus Christ was real, that it was true. During those four years I spent away at school, completely independent of the influence of family and friends, that belief was shaped into a knowledge. By learning, questioning, and applying the doctrines I have experienced first hand the evidences of the reality of the gospel. More often than not, it's more a feeling than anything, but I promise these feelings are more convincing than anything I could see, hear, or touch. I know what I know and I cannot deny it. At times it may be inconvenient to live my faith but no more inconvenient than it would be to live day in and day out without the love of God, the support of the Savior, and the companionship of the Holy Spirit.

How I live my faith

I try to be like Jesus. It sounds simple because it is simple. That's how God intended for the gospel to be. We are the ones that alter it and adjust it to fit society's standards, we are the ones who overcomplicate it to justify our disbelief or disobedience, we are the ones who reject it. At this particular point in my life, in effort to try and live my faith...to try and follow the example of the savior, I am serving a full-time mission. I am spending 18 months giving freely of what has been given freely to me - the joy of the gospel. I am temporarily leaving behind what never belonged to me in the first place - my family, friends, career, and hobbies. These I know to be gifts from a very loving Heavenly Father, and will be well taken care of by Him while I am away. In the meantime, I have been called to serve the people of New England with the gospel of a loving God. Nothing has ever brought me more happiness.
