Hi I'm Curtis

I'm a frisbee player, a runner, movie maker, I like star wars and i'm a mormon

About Me

My name is Curtis and I was formerly a missionary for the Church in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission but am now serving in the Curitiba Brazil Mission! Before my mission I liked being with my friends and family, making movies and playing ultimate frisbee. Now that I'm on my mission I still enjoy these things and plan to change the world one frisbee at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess my conversion story isn't too amazing but it is special to me. I grew up in the Church but I guess I didn't really begin to develop my testimony until I was a little older. As everyone knows when you begin to grow up it seems like more and more is thrown your way and sometimes it's hard to see the right from the wrong. And i guess my testimony first began with prayer, as things would come up in life I would notice that as I would pray I could see more clearly than I could before. I know that as things are thrown at us in life it is only for our benefit and growth, sometimes all it takes is to "look" for the Lord and "trust" that He is there and will help us. I'm still young and I know that I haven't seen alot in life yet but I know that if i continue to look then the Lord can help me through all things.

How I live my faith

Well obviously as a Missionary I live my faith everyday. I enjoy teaching others of this gospel and inviting others to come unto Christ. Its amazing to me when in a lesson and my companion and I are teaching and you can see it just "click" for the investigator. Its little things like this that make this gospel and work a miracle in itself.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Curtis
Not at all, we CHOOSE to serve because we have seen the blessings of this Gospel in our lives and because of that we want to share it with everyone. 1 Nephi 8 12 "And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit."   Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Curtis
As missionaries we go out into the world to answer the questions that people may have, much like the questions here on this website. But as we do so we focus everything on our savior Jesus Christ because that is what our message is centered on. Our whole purpose as missionaries is to "Invite others to Come Unto Christ by Helping them Receive the Restored Gospel."  Show more Show less

What is faith?

Curtis
Faith is a firm belief in something to where you don't need to "see" it to know that something is true. Faith is important to God's plan because if we knew all the answers and could see everything would this life really be a test? In this life we must learn to walk by FAITH rather than SIGHT.  Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Curtis
In the Book of Mormon we learn that "this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors" Alma 34 32 The whole reason we are here is to learn and to grow and eventually become like our Heavenly Father. We do this through the "labors" that we perform and the trials that we face. When we return to our Heavenly Father we will be judged according to our deeds and our "labors" whether they be righteous or wicked.   Show more Show less
