Hi I'm Tim Guffey

I am a convert to the LDS Church, work for a Fortune 100, father of 8, grandfather of 12+. I love life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the LDS Church. Grew up in a home where the teachings of Jesus Christ were taught to me. Joined the LDS Church as a college student at Georgia Tech. Served a mission in Germany for the Church a year after joining. Continue to speak German today. I worked in the R&D and Legal Division for a Fortune 100 company. In my last role in the Legal Division's patent administration area, we filed patents internationally. I love the outdoors - hiking, camping, white-water rafting, canoeing, sailing. I have and still do work with the Boy Scouts of America. We have 8 children and 18 grandchildren. I have been deeply affected by my religious beliefs, and by several training courses I have attended, such as Investment in Excellence and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I love to teach, and to help people grow, at home, at work, at Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up not knowing anything about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I first learned about it while a college student. Two of my high school buddies had a friend who was LDS, and they joined the LDS church in their freshman years at college. They started inviting me to activities during the summer between our freshman and sophomore years. My parents had taught me about our Savior, Jesus Christ, but had no particular religious affiliation. I began to learn that Heavenly Father is real, and loves me, and wants me to come home to be with Him after this life is over. I have learned that prophets again live on the earth, and they provide guidance for our daily lives. I have learned that He loves all of His children, and we should be doing things to help others. I have found that the teachings of Jesus Christ help me with my interactions with others at home, at work, or anywhere else. I'm very grateful for His influence in my life! And, quite simply, His teachings work!

How I live my faith

My faith is literally my life. There is nothing I do that is not in some way guided by my beliefs and the knowledge of where I've come from before this life, why I'm here, and where I'm going after this life. I study my faith individually and with my wife each day (empty nesters). WeI have personal and family prayer each day. We hold something called Family Home Evening each Monday where we talk about some principle of our faith, talk about family calendar, review some moral standard we observe, and laugh together. I am happy to talk to anyone about my beliefs, anytime.
