Hi I'm Tammy

My mom and I were the only active members in my family growing up. A neighbor shared the gospel with us. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a grandmother and have great fun with our grandchildren. I work at my regular job and have a vinyl lettering/craft business I do on the side. I love crafting. I love sharing the gospel through this business. I also love gardening, building things out of old wood, and taking old things and making other things out of them. I enjoy camping with our family, fishing and just being with them. I enjoy reading and writing is a passion of mine. I have written a missionary package idea book, several poems and am going to be working on a book soon. I am just finishing a website and blog for my business that I do with my sister and my mom.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an inactive family until a neighbor shared the gospel with us by asking my mom if we could go to primary. My mom agreed and began taking us to church. I LOVE the gospel and gained my testimony when I was a teenager. I went to church as a teenager, but mostly because my friends went. I still did not have a strong testimony until I had an experience where I needed prayers answered as a 17-year-old girl. I began to pray and prayed for three days for an answer to my prayers. The answer was beautiful and I have had a strong testimony ever since. I love learning and growing in the gospel and also sharing it with others. When my son went on his mission I learned - through supporting him - to love missionary work. The story is too long to put here, but I'll quickly share what I did and how the spirit worked with me and I grew to love the work. I realized a couple of days before he left for his mission that he would soon be gone for two years. He was the mechanic, the fixer-up guy around our house, he was a great support in the gospel - what would we do without him around? Then, I realized that I could whine and cry and miss him and make life miserable for him and I by telling him so OR I could jump into his mission with him. So, that's what I did. I 'jumped' into his mission with him by sending him Book of Mormon's with my testimony, sending packages to he and his companions - especially when one of them was struggling. I ended up writing a missionary package idea book that came from these experiences to share with others who had missionaries out. I also read the Book of Mormon clear through for the first time while he was gone. I thought if he could read it - so could I. And if he could read Miracle of Forgiveness, Jesus The Christ and other books - so could I. So I did. It was so amazing what happened. I now am not afraid to share the gospel. I have a strong testimony of Joseph Smith- even though I had one before...it is much stronger now. If the gospel wasn't true - Joseph would or could have denied it during anyone of those difficult times he went through - being poisoned, tarred and feathered, etc. But It was true and that in itself is a testimony to me. He would not have went through all he did if it wasn't true. I have such a strong testimony. He could not deny it because he had seen them. He did see Angel Moroni and found the plates. He did translate the Book of Mormon and so on. He was a man of integrity, grit and love. I so love the gospel and am so abundantly blessed. It is by living the gospel that I am abundantly blessed. I know it is true and bear this witness in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by looking at life with an eternal perspective. I love and do genealogy work and go to the temple each week. My mom and I go together. She works there and I do the work for deceased persons. It is wonderful. There is a peace in the temple that you cannot get anywhere else. We have family members who have passed on from this life - close family members and I want to see and be with them again. I have had very sacred, spiritual experiences with them and know there is a life after this one and that we can be together as eternal families if we live the gospel. I try to be an example to my family and those around me. I serve in the church in whatever work I am called to do. I have a peace in my life that wasn't there when I didn't live it. I read the scriptures everyday and look for opportunities to serve others. I found through a life changing experience that when you are having the worst days of your life - if you help someone else with their lives - yours doesn't seem so bad. Serving is a blessing that comes from the gospel too. I was just released from a calling that I loved and so miss it, but have been called to teach the 12-13 year olds. What a blessing it is to teach them and what a huge responsibility it is. I know I am there to teach them and help them gain testimonies of the gospel. I know they have a great responsibility that lies ahead of them and it is of great importance that they have strong testimonies so they can do what they need to do in this life.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

God's house is a house of order. He has placed 12 Apostles on the earth at this time to help guide us and teach us. If there was no one to teach us - there would be chaos in this world - much like there was during Joseph Smith's early years. He is a loving God and would not put them on the earth only at the time of Jesus, when we need the help too. Show more Show less
