About Me

I joined the Church 25 February 1965

Why I am a Mormon

I received a very profound testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the fact that Joseph Smith was and is a Prophet Seer and Revelator I was given a Patriarchal Blessing one year after joining the Church. One of the promised blessings was that I would be blessed with a profound witness of Temple work and Family History. I would site one of many examples of where I have recieved help from Heaven on high. Whilst painting Billingham Chapel, years ago I was asked by Alex Stewart to help move some pews from there to the Hartlepool building. ln the process I met a missionary called Elder Joseph Young. I enquired where he came from. He said he was from a small community called Lake Point, in the Salt Lake Valley. When I said I knew of it he expressed surprise that I would know where this was saying that not a lot of people even in Salt Lake knew this. I told him that I had visited the place and told him some details including the position of the burial graound Which was just opposite a yellow painted home just across from the cemetary. Elder Young was amazed and said that is my home. I said that I was to visit Salt Lake in a few weeks time and intended to go to Lake Point whilst there. I asked him if he would like me to call on is parents and he agreed. . I duly called the home and arranged to make my visit. I was greeted by Joseph's sister and was welcomed in meeting his mother and Grandfather. After we had chatted for a while Sister Young asked me why I was familiar with the graveyard and asked me if I had any relatives buried there. I said that a second Great Grandaunt and her husband were interred there called William Francis and Eliza Crich Moss. She told me that everyone in and around Lake Point knew them because William had been the first Bishop of the community serving for some 30 years, and Eliza was the midwife. Sister Young then told me that she was the sextant of the ground and gave me a whole lot of information of the Moss Family.

How I live my faith

I have had many ward and stake callings which I have tried to magnify
